lol

Not unexpected given the quality of the post.

you keep talking about post quality, but i’ve yet to see you give any reason as to why Romanov’s ceiling is anything higher than Ben Chiarot, besides his usage on the worst team in the NHL. Oh and his age, because we all know development is linear.

I guess it comes down to semantics whether adding a positive or taking back a negative are considered sweetners, as both make the deal sweeter for your trade partner.

It's not really semantics.

When Vegas was willing to add a 2nd round pick to Dadonov in the voided trade to Anaheim, that is sweetening the pot. They attached something to move Dadonov.

Habs didn't attach anything to get rid of Weber's contract. Which is what quite a few people were saying Habs would need to do in order to move him.

The negativity of Danodov's contract is not a negative for us in any significant way.

It hampens us from taking a cap dump in another trade. A few years ago the Leafs had to pay a 1st to get rid of the final year of Marleau’s contract, Vegas was in a very similar situation with Dadonov.

Drouin is fast. His issue is that he’s got intangible issues stemming from mental health issues. Confidence…aggressiveness… he plays hockey like his dog just died. It’s not his fault, but it is what it is.

I see this is rather complicated for you so I’ll try to keep it simple, relatively speaking.

Romanov has accomplished more at 20 than Chiarot did until he was 25. I have no idea how Chiarot has become a comparison for Romanov when it’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Toyota. It’s not even close, except for you and Kent, apparently.

lmao why did you bother copying tables just to say that Romanov made the NHL younger than Chiarot. Development is not linear. Why dont you compare the early development of Luke Schenn vs Erik Karlsson while youre at it ?

Look we all like Romanov, there’s just no reason to fall in love with a generic defensive defenseman that will probly wont amount to much more than 2nd pairing material.

It hampens us from taking a cap dump in another trade. A few years ago the Leafs had to pay a 1st to get rid of the final year of Marleau’s contract, Vegas was in a very similar situation with Dadonov.
Marleau had a full NMC, and was only willing to accept a trade to the Sharks (who couldn't afford him), or a trade to a team that promised to buy him out so he could sign with the Sharks. That's not comparable to Dadonov's situation with a 10-team NTC, to say nothing of the difference between 6.25M for a guy who was clearly washed up in Marleau vs Dadonov who is still an acceptable middle-six forward.

Oh I didnt remember that. I know that pick turned into Seth Jarvis tho. Good for the Leafs.

Romanov is a much better skater and passer. He has better hands and he's as strong as Chariot.
The only thing Chiarot has on Romanov is a harder shot and more experience.

Romanov seems like he's also going to be much more consistent game to game compared to Chiarot.

This was Chiarot's best year in the nhl and Romanov was right behind him despite only being 22 years old.

It would surprise me if next season Romanov does not already become clearly better than Chiarot.

He's not as strong.
