This looks terrible, and it is, but this would give us a chance to increase the value of many vets and tank for a top pick again. Keep Wright, Roy, Farrell, Guhle and Barron away from this team and let them mature for 2023-2024.

Anderson gets us 12, we trade Petry to move up to 18 from 26. We draft 1,12,18th. Free up 12 million in caproom. I like it!!
 
That post about trading Caufield for Lafreniere made me check my eyesight.

Anyway..

One team that id think would trade for Petry is the Islanders. It fits Lou Lamoriello's MO and since Barzal forced a coaching change they are probably going to do a Flyer type move and try to win now as Barzal probably doesn't want to be part of a rebuild.

The Flyers owner is only interested in having "playoffs money", I don't think they care how the team gets there.
 
I don’t know what’s on the hop and what trades will be made. I do know I’ve never been so confident in management to make the right moves towards the vision they outlined. That’s enough for me to be happy and know we have competent people in change to get us to where we need to be. That’s a really good feeling.

Man I hope Hugues throws away Anderson , hes probably the most overrated winger hyped by this org and the media in the last 2 decades.

Dude is a complete brick defensively and can't pass the puck.
I really hope some washed GM pay the high price for a sub 40 points winger always injured.

This summer could be great for us if we dump Petry and Anderson for first picks for 2023.

If we hate Anderson for his inconsistency, his lack of vision and the terms of his contract, i doubt other GM's are going to give a top 10 pick for him. I love him 1 game /10 when he runs the other team down and score two goals. But it happens so rarely that i'm willing to part ways with him at pretty much any price nearing Toffoli's return.

We should be more worried about what we won't have in three years. And this includes Anderson's speed and health if he's still with the Habs.

The buzz is getting insane with the draft approaching though. There's a poll on this board with a significant portion of our fan base ready to trade Caufield for #2!

What happened to the "how come the Habs can't suck on a strong draft year" comments I've been reading all season long? I reckon Anderson might have a great value at the moment with how Hughes threw his name out yesterday, but with these COVID plagued prospects, Anderson's value in draft picks is a big question mark. It's not impossible that it turns out into a 2013 type of draft, so Hughes should wait for an overpayment, else I agree with you, he still has value for the team and next summer will probably be the same if Anderson can stay healthy.

It seems it is a battle between the Metro teams* and the Oilers going by twitter rumors.

*I've seen rumors of these being interested the last few days:
- Isles
- Carolina
- NJ Devils
- Rangers

I would add Philly since they signed Torts. They could be interested since Anderson was at his best under him.

Jaarmo offered more $ per beat writer Aaron Portzline right after the trade .. Anderson refused to sign

He was overrated when he was in Columbus too. So at the end, he is not overrated. The guy is able to score 20
Goals at 6ft3, being dominant physically vs opponnent. There is no many winger like him into the league. So this is the law of supply and demand

NYI are pretty stacked on RD though. They have Pulock locked up long term. Dobson just finished his ELC, and they have Mayfield, although he is UFA in 2023. Don't see how Petry fits there.

They really need LD, and would be far more interested in Edmundson to pair with Dobson on 2nd pair than Petry.

They are so bad on LD they actually played Chara last year as a top 4D.

There's nothing after Pelech on that side.
