Proposal: Trade Proposal Thread: Part 77

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.

PREDICT THE RETURN FOR JEFF PETRY

I almost thought to start a new thread, or post in the Petry thread, but was afraid the mods would flip it back here.

So I'm wondering what folks think the return for Jeff Petry will be, if Kent Hughes pulls the trigger this summer.

I personally think he will not be traded for much less than Toffoli fetched. Jeff was scoring at over a 50 point pace once again under MSL. He has value around the league.
I'm thinking a salary dump and a 1st

Dallas, Detroit and 5 or 6 teams have expressed interest in Petry.

On TDL day, after the 3PM deadline passed, Renaud Lavoie had said that Yzerman and Hughes had spoken about a Petry trade.

The leafs would presumably be expecting Price to be LTIR retired and therefore they would have that 10m to spend. They would essentially be letting Tavares go for nothing just to free up the cap space. It could make sense if they could use that cap space wisely but that seems doubtful.
Makes no sense. Tavares has a ton of value and price’s is negative. Let’s put this rumour to bed. We look foolish for even discussing it.

reason is pretty simple: Slaf can pretty much jump right in - and is a beast on the wing. while he wont score more than caufield next year, he will be a stud in 2-3 years. If you want to make a real trade - you would have to offer CC in return for 2OA straight up (not an extra 1st - thats crazy). It would be a gamble for the Habs banking on our rebuild being ready in 2 years and "if" Slaf becomes the better player, but it would save us Capspace when we are ready to compete as both Wright and Slaf would be on ELC.

Personally - I would prefer to offer up CC and CGY 1st for Laff - but now that KK seems to be the trade option I doubt NYR accepts that.

PS: I'm not a fan of uber-small wingers, exception to Kane. This includes Debrincat and CC and Johnny Hockey - don't want them regardless of regular season stats, once playoffs start their size is a HUGE negative.

signed: Habs fan who has had to endure decades of: Petrov, Koivu, DD, etc.. you cant win with these pint size guys unless they are an add on to the core (TDL type of thing).
Signed, by thank god I’m not GM.

You'd have to be insane not to trade Caufield for Lafrenière, who in 5 years is gonna be an elite powerforward on the wing.

If you take to The Athletic value chart in game score value added (GVSA):

#2 = 12.3
#6 + #12 = (7.6 + 5.5) 13.1

It's not that far away. I know values can vary from draft to draft, but if New-Jersey are very high on a player they think they can only get at #2, it would make sense.

I can't see Columbus trading 6 + 12 for 2nd overall.

A trade for a high pick, like #5 or #6 for the Habs depends on how good they think the players are on the top-6 of their draft list top-6. If they think there will be a very good player there à la Seider or Raymond, then it would make sense, but it would not be a sure thing.

I really don't want to trade Anderson he gives a speed toughness and the odd goal here and there but if we could move up to second overall or top five pick you got to start thinking

Imagine if we end up with Nemec or Jiricek because we move Josh Anderson. 😂

Anderson and #26 for JVR (one year cap dump) and 5th overall. Do it Chuck!

we'd have to add a D prospect. The question is which one. If it's Harris that's a totally different story than adding a Guhle.

I just don't see Detroit going after Petry....they have Seider and Hronek on the right, doubt they would give the premium Hugues is probably looking for and It's not like Detroit is going for it for the next 3 years of Petry's contract. If anything I could see them being interested in many of our other pieces.
