...Drouin quit on his team in Tampa...Bargain Bin got schooled by Yzerman and he ended up here...quit on his team here while they were on their first Finals run in 28 years...

...Dubois quit on his team in Columbus...gets traded...and has already waived the White Flag in the 'Peg with two years left on his deal, ffs...

...yeah, let's continue the trend of trading for quitters because their last name has local flavor...:banghead:

...I swear, some "fans" of this team would rather win praise from the you-know-what Party than win Cups, ffs...makes me sick...:madfire:
PLD does not have two years left on his deal. He is RFA.

Unless PLD signs as a ufa in 2yrs, I doubt there's any chance we trade for him.

Torts & MSL are close & you can bet the inside scoop info won't be favorable...

Besides that, the timing, contract status & cost to get him all make little sense given Habs situation & even less so with the direction HuGo seem committed to.

If we're going after U25 NHLers I would bet the focus is more on guys with high ceilings but low output thus far... Low cap cost, lesser asset cost, time & roster opportunity to give them chance to grow into top 6 contributor

Comtois, Texier, Puljujarvi, Kravtsov, Zadina, Bellows, mittlestad, Chytil... These types of players seem like more likely targets than a big fish with red flags like PLD

Trouba, fox and MSL himself wanted to go to the rags and we're traded below market value to them. I wouldn't be surprised if we sent some surplus picks and prospects for Dubois, but then again I think one more year of rebuilding would be preferred. Maybe Dubois signs a one year extension and we revisit next summer.

Cheveldaov will hang on to Dubois until the last possible second if he hasn't gotten full value for Dubois.

He's not trading him for scraps.

I'm pretty sure he could get the 2nd, or 5th overall picks in this year's draft, plus more, for Dubois. Probably Debrincat + as well.

I’d be surprised if HUGO offer sheets anyone, ever.

Most GMs don’t do it and especially new GMs. Seems like a nuclear option that only previous management used because they had -1000% foresight.
Offer sheeting is a legitimate strategy, it's just not widely used until one day it will be.

I think that offer sheets should be aggressively used within the division.

Definitely not the most used way to acquire an asset. Bergevin bungled the Aho offer sheet and got rewarded by getting rid of KK for it. I'm just looking at Colorado having Makar and Girard both signed long term and I'm wondering if there is an opportunity to poach him, especially when MacKinnon is due up next summer. And with free agency coming after the draft, we would have our 23 1st rd pick secured so there would be no risk to losing a Bedard etc.

It's apparently used a lot more than we know, it's just that we only learn about those that are signed by the players. The ones that aren't signed are rarely mentioned by teams or the players.

clearly PMD wants OUT. He wants to be a hab. Wont sign any new contracts with Jets. Will walk asap. So why do the Habs need to PAY anything right now. Habs should just wait until the JETS GET NOTHING. PMD cant wait to slam the door behind him on the JETS. Make a deal with the habs now and we can part friends, DON'T AND WE WON"T.
Who says he only wants to sign with the Habs? Rangers would probably be interested too and he can actually play center there. Dubois wants to play for a big market it was clear since before he got traded to Winnipeg. I don’t like how he left Columbus, but I don’t understand why people are shitting on him now that he says he wants to test UFA so he can do what he initially wanted which was to sign with a big market. Adam Fox refused to sign with Calgary and Carolina and only wanted to sign with New York yet I don’t hear anyone calling him a diva.

The first one is kind of interesting, I really really don’t like the others

Kaut is a bust, we’re giving up way too much value for Girard. EDM can’t take that much salary back.

Yeah if we take him at his word that he wanted to go to a big market it's a bit unfair as fans to be like "wow two trade demands look at this guy what would ever be good enough for him???" when he got traded from...Columbus to Winnipeg.

If he got traded to LA and was pulling this same move I would be concerned but...it's Winnipeg lol

To aquire PLD.....which would be an amazing acquisition.....would be 2 top prospects and a pick. So your looking at Guhle, Caulfield and Calgarys 1st.....no thanks!!!.....might as well wait till hes UFA
What do you think about the fact that Dubois said that he wanted to sign with the Habs once free agent ? Because if he still stick to this idea, it will decrease his value for other teams that want him. You don't give the moon to get a player who won't re-sign , and his salary is hard to fit at the dead line because most of teams running for the finals don't have the cap space to do so.

Proof where he said he only wants to be a Hab and doesn't want to play for any other team? All that has been said is he wants to play for a big market.

Both MacKinnon is UFA after next season, Toews in 2-seasons and Rantanen in 3-seasons. Avs have some big time cap issues coming

Kadri & Johnson are gonzo via UFA and Girard will have to be dealt.

Don't know if HuGo want to risk ruining their relationship with another GM already, but offersheeting Nic Roy would absolutely f*** over the Knights.
There's no need to make it so complicated IMO. We could probably just trade for him if we really want him and Vegas is so f***ed with the cap situation. They'll have to let one or two guys go and in a normal year he's their 3C at best, he's expandable.

You're making a good argument. I think he's doing a retool because of the trajectory the team seems to be taking. It looks like the team will compete next year. Technically you're right, you demonstrated this is a rebuild because of all the movement. But in practice it's the equivalant of a retool if the team competes next year. That was my thinking. Maybe that's why Hugo didn't want anything to do with those two words.
They aren't competing next year, all your posts are crazy sorry
