Also, curious on thoughts about picking up James Neal and potentially flipping at tdl. Throw minutes at him while we are full of injuries and covid, get maybe a 4th if he works out alright and gets some points.

Give him the Kovalchuk treatment. Play him a lot of minutes, hope he shows something tangible for a contender and flip him at the deadline.

When I first saw that idea, I thought hell no cause he was on his last year of that stupid contact. But now I realize he is one a one year deal at $750K so why not? Works for the Taxie squad too if we get cluttered with players once they are healthy again (if that ever happens).

Even if we get a 3rd or 4th rounder, it's worth it.

Its been a funny 5 years listening to people either freakout in our fanbase about Price’s contract or degrade him because of it. He’s all but primed to be on IR in a couple of years. The $10.5 may be hard to swallow for some contenders, but somebody looking for a few seasons of good goaltending can get that for a few seasons at a reasonable trade cost and we could retain or he simply retired here. It’s not a problem at all. There’s far less manageable contracts out there.

Price is not tradable for quality assets imo. This isn’t shitting on him. This is reality.

I see him waive it to go to Colorado, Seattle or Vancouver…..not saying it’s going to happen or these teams even need Price but knowing Price, and amazingly he and I are quite alike when it comes to away from work activities and lifestyles (he even drives the same truck that I have), this is where I’d want to be traded and I reckon he’s feeling the same way.

It will be interesting to see if Price will move to a contender, there will certainly be interest if he expresses a desire to move on, I'm just not sure if we are able to get back what we would like/need because of his contract and health status.

The point is that I rather see a very high established prospect coming back than a first. The Habs have been horrendous at drafting the past decade.

Except the guy drafting those is gone and a new brand/culture is going to be inevitably developed
