It will be interesting to see if Price will move to a contender, there will certainly be interest if he expresses a desire to move on, I'm just not sure if we are able to get back what we would like/need because of his contract and health status.
Just getting rid of his contract would be worth it

Chiarot + Lehkonen/Armia for Ryan Murray + Martin Kaut + 1st. Murray gets shipped to another team right away for a 2nd/3rd.

Exactly!!! Lol

I see him waive it to go to Colorado, Seattle or Vancouver…..not saying it’s going to happen or these teams even need Price but knowing Price, and amazingly he and I are quite alike when it comes to away from work activities and lifestyles (he even drives the same truck that I have), this is where I’d want to be traded and I reckon he’s feeling the same way.

I can't imagine Gorton won't have this conversation with Price, if he hasn't had it already. Might be a reason why Price is still nowhere near the ice as he comes back from his program. But make no mistake, he'll dictate where he goes, if at all. I think like you those would be very desirable destinations, I'd add Vegas, Edmonton, Calgary, Edmonton and even Nashville to the list too, not taking into account salary caps as there's always a way around them.

Gotta assume that Price needs to show he’s not broken and still play before there’s a team that takes a chance with that massive contract.

So you want Gord Miller then

Too old, I'd rather ice Warriors than Shamans also.

I think so too. But the year off, successful surgery, and addiction help adds value to IMO. You’re getting a refreshed Price who went into God mode last playoffs after having significant time off and walking into the playoffs fresh.

Price reminds me of a starting pitcher who’s become a closer. Has all the heat but for short periods of time in high pressure situations. His reputation is as good as it gets in the hockey world and the missing piece many GMs feel they need for a cup. It’s his contract that’s a deterrent but there are ways around that without punishing Habs to move it.

You guys could be surprised by some moves. I do think that Gorton will have a chat with Price and will put all cards on deck. And that 31 will ask to leave. No inside info here. Just a hunch.
And you will be surprised how much interest he will garner when he comes back. Montreal will need to eat 3.5 to 4M of his (cap) salary. But I do think he will leave.

I could see it too. Although, if Price does get traded it’ll be in the off-season when teams have more salary cap flexibility.

Weber isn't even in the 77M and nobody wants our bad contract.
If your thinking is so defeatist that no one is tradable, and nothing can happen then I can see why you’re pulling a chicken little. But that’s simply not the case. There are plenty of moves that can be made, and just because you can’t envision them, doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

I think Gallagher and Petry might be more of a distraction in rebuild years than Price. I'd trade all 3 with substantial retention but I'm not trading Price just to get rid of him. If we rebuild and those guys want out (which I believe they will), it's going to be a process.

I'm not afraid one bit to retain $10M - $12M for 3-5 years on all 3 of them during our rebuild years. Personally, I think if we are rebuilding, this would be our best strategy to get the best futures return possible. What are we worried about with retention? We went with $8M - $10M of unused cap space for 2+ years after we let Markov and Radulov go and we were not even doing a full rebuild.

That comment has me a little concerned. I suspect some boundaries have been seriously crossed.:sarcasm:

From what I have heard on the interwebz, Florida is extremely interested in Chiarot. They do not have a 1st or 2nd round pick this year, and the price for Chiarot has been reported to be at least a 1st. What prospect would you be interested in getting in return?

1st in 2023 would be a nice gamble.
