You need playmaking and puck carrying ability..

Cozens isn't the guy for me if we are burning assets.

That there is where if the Habs are paying a lot for him, better off to pay a bit more and get someone decent, but if it's the usual Sabres selling low I'd be interested.

“Canadiens are guaranteed to acquire PLD…”
“Habs have no interest in Laine…”

- Renowned Canadiens Insider Eric Engels
Hey, leave him alone! You know how hard it is to sound authoritative about hockey while simultaneously sounding like you know Jack?

Mostly anything smart he says he prefaces it with "you know what someone told me.." that's when you listen

Insiders are fun and I'm tired of Friedman being the NHL's mouthpiece. Some diversity of voices brings some pepper and spice to the mix.

Look at how much some hang on Grant McCagg's every burp and fart. It's part of our pathetic low-quality media ecosystem, it's borderline charming.
I think the NHL wants a Woj for themselves. That's why it was Bob and then the others. Now it's Friedman then others.

Things are sad in Habs land when we are still talking about Kovacevic.

When MB used the "the answer is in the room", no big trades ever happened from what I remember.

The Sabres owner will trade players to save salaries thought.
That's not the Sabres. They trade everyone all the time. This latest skid is another major disappointment in a year where they were supposed to be competitive. If this continues, I can't see them not making changes, whether it's players, coaching or GM. Something has to give there.

He's not Friedman but i think he's got some connections.
He goes on the NHL Network FFS. It's not like he's Eklund of something.

I really don't get the hate for insiders here.
It's like people expect them to predict the future before even GMs know whether they can pull off a trade or not.

Eklund had sources when Paul Holmgren was the Flyers GM. Since then however...

I doubt anyone in the Sabres org expected them to be competitive this year while being the youngest team in the league.

I have no idea why the Rags would move important pieces but the guy to target is Adam Fox IF we are looking to bring in a big time player from the Rangers . He is a RHD PMD who has 4 years left on his deal after this one and he is only 26. Allows Guhle tp play LHD and together they should be a great combination. Also allows us to move Matheson. If Reinbacher wasnt injured I could see him being the piece going back. I would not go after Kreider, a winger who has 2 more years after this and doesnt fit our window so well ( and our wingers on the top 6 are Caufield, Slaf, Demi and hopefully Laine ).
Doubt Fox would come here

Think they expected progression. Better D, far better goaltending and more experienced young players. What’s happening now is cataclysmic. Total regression and lack of compete is a huge concern and not enough vets to help pull them out of it.

I think it's probably a management problem. Stats wise the players are doing well.

I mean stats wise TT is doing well same for Peterka, Tuch and Zucker. Dahlin, Power and Byram are all doing well. Main problem is offensive depth on the 2nd line with all of Cozens, Benson, Krebs and Quinn struggling but that would be easily solvable by good management. A better vet dman to help Byram, Dahlin and Power would help too their vet on defense suck. Goalie wise Luukkonen is doing fine nothing impressive but nothing that could explain their ranking either. Don't think it's the players fault honestly.

How old were Petry and Matheson when they broke out?
29 and 27 years old.
Some guys are late bloomer and there is nothing wrong with this, that’s life.

Only dumb ass would not see the talent Hutson had even if it was 2 games last year.

Let’s be honest here, I have heard for the last 20 years that Montreal has one of the best if not the best prospects pool. Where are the Stanley cups to back those claims?

Yeah some of us can see something in players.
What if HUGO got screwed in this trade? Is it not possible?

I don't know where you are hearing that from. The only time I recall montreal being the best prospect pool was around 2008 when there was price, pacioretty, subban, and mcdonagh, s kost and grabovski headlining it.....with a young plekance and akost on the big team.

Until recently, nobody rated the Habs prospect pool highly since then.
