Prices vary a ton based off of whether it's a sellers market or not so it's tough to predict.

Savard could potentially get a 1st, but a 2nd+ is probably more likely. That said there's also a chance we re-sign him even though many here would hate it.

Evans is probably looking at a 2nd, but again we might re-sign him.

Dvorak & Armia are late picks at best, and Gallagher & Anderson are still probably untradeable with their contracts even though both have had a good year so far.

I think if Hughes can get a 1st for Savard he'll take it.

He needs to make room for Mailloux or give Barron a chance to play every day next year.

If they need a vet RD, they can sign one this summer.

Unless Habs are willing to surrender Redenbacher, Hage, Beck + unprotected 1st… they will be outbid for Jiricek

Preds have 3 1sts + prospects …and will overpay as needed for a young D…. Trotz is all in this season

Rainman for Jiricek who says no? (I say no but I'm a homer)

Value must be similar/relatively high no? Maybe Jiricek has more.

That said Jiri is pretty physically mature for his age , not sure Reinbacher even has a single hair on his chin yet
I say no. All our RD prospects are offensively minded with defensive flaws except for Reinbacher whose a defence first guy. From all accounts, Jiricek is of the same mold and has big lapses in his defensive coverage. We need a Reinbacher more than we need a Jiricek

Despite the frustration from our fanbase with Matheson this year, I think he holds a ton of value still on his current contract. After that, we don’t really have anybody worth anything that we would want to trade. I’m sure teams would be calling on a guy like Jake Evans, but I doubt they would offer anything that makes Hughes want to move him. Maybe somebody still gives up an alright draft pick for Savard to be a depth piece on a strong team.

We say no because Reinbacher still has a pretty big ceiling despite the injuries. Jiricek gives me vibes that he’s an early peaker. I think what you see from him now is more or less what you’ll get moving forward. I don’t see a lot of room for growth.

Oh I don't think we should trade him for Zegras at all , im actually against it but im just saying he has not have been physical at all for us.

Dach has 39 hits in 19 games played. he ranks 4th on the team as of today.

Dach's timing and offensive instinct are off but his physicality is good.

I would like him to move his feet more, sometimes he looks sluggish.

I don’t think we’ll make the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a busy trading deadline.
Here are some players I think will be traded and their trade value.

David Savard
2nd and 3rd round picks. Depending on the team, he’s valuable for a playoff team. He’s going to get the same value as Chris Tanev last year.

Christian Dvorak
I don’t think he’s worth much on the market base on his cap hit. Maybe if we retain 50%, we might get a second round pick out of a team looking for a 3rd/4th line center. We gave up a 1st and 2nd for Dvorak in the Kotkaniemi offer sheet.

Jake Evans
I think we’ll try to resign him. I don’t see a 3rd/4th liner worth anything more than a 2nd round pick and prospect. Evans has more value than Dvorak because his cap hit is 1/3 of Dvorak. Also he’s better than Dvorak. I don’t know if we want any more prospects but bringing him back to teach Owen Beck is more valuable than trading him.

Josh Anderson
I don’t think any team will touch his cap hit.

Brendan Gallagher
His cap hit is too high but he’s off to a great start. If LA somehow is interested because of Bergevin’s influence on Blake, then we might see a prospect and a pick in return.

Savard : Optimal candidate for the Habs’ last salary retention spot; at 50%, he should in principle (veteran RHD) fetch a late 1st round pick from a contender in such context.

Evans : If the Habs can’t re-sign him to a reasonable contract (2-3M AAV) prior to TDL, he should become a prime candidate for contenders looking for a swiss-army knife forward to bolster their bottom-6. Wouldn’t be surprised if Evans fetches a late 1st or 2nd round pick in such context.

Dvorak : Habs would have to take back a bad contract and/or trade a middle-round pick to a third party to retain 50% of Dvorak’s salary to extract any significant value; maybe a late 2nd round pick from a contender looking for a bottom-6 C with good face-off skills?

Armia : Habs would have to take back a bad contract and/or trade a middle-round pick to a third party to retain 50% of Armia’s salary to extract any significant value; maybe a late 2nd or 3rd round pick from a contender looking for a bottom-6 forward with good playoff credentials?

Anderson/Gallagher/Matheson : N/A, for this season at least

Struble/Barron : If somehow the Habs want to sell AND buy at TDL to avoid offseason bidding wars, one of them could be an asset in a package for an experienced RHD?

I think the main issue with Just sign someone this summer is that if they are any good they will be looking for more then 1 year, whereas we probably don't want to go more then a year or two for a true vet D. Obviously if we can get a youngish borderline top-pairing guy then that's a different story but it's also unlikely.

Matheson's highest value may be highest when he's a UFA. Contenders may want to add him to an already good blue line, instead of having his cap hit prevent them from signing other players innthe offseason.

I would tend to agree, I think his peak market value is this upcoming deadline (age 31), followed by next (age 32) w his very digestible $4.9M AAV. If there’s a growth uptick amongst young D corps, Matheson might be dangled next summer or following deadline, but his ability to eat TOI is too important this season for Habs

He’s going to look to make bank on his next contract (as he should), with cap ceiling likely over $100M for 26-27 season

Won't be resigning Evans....when u have Beck Kapanen and Davidson that can play the same role for way cheaper.

If you don't have the patience to wait for Newhook, Barron, Reinbacher, Dach, Slaf develop, you won't have the patience for Jiricek.
Agree, we do not need another projects, especially not on D. I would trade for some experienced RHD, but not too old. The problem is, there are so few of them in the league. RHD in the age between 22 - 28, there are just 49 guys in whole NHL and very few of them are actually good and available.
We either decide to pay big prize for someone like Andersson, Dobson, Bouchard or we stick to the plan with our own D prospects like Barron, Mailloux, Reinbacher or some lefties.

If Preds are all in Trotz would have absolutely no interest. Jiricek won't help them this year and probably not next either.

I haven't really watched Jiricek in the last 2 years so I don't know where he's at, but the pedigree is there and the potential is tantalizing. He's kinda injury prone though. That would make two young 6'3 RD with significant recent injuries

With CGY's 1st, CBJ's 2nd, Roy, Newhook, Barron and the Habs own picks, there's enough pieces to make a deal. I don't know at what point the price becomes too much

On the Savard trade, I'd do it sooner than later. He might get injured and, honestly, as @MarkovsKnee said, the defence looked much more mobile without him in the lineup. Even if the Jiricek trade doesn't happen, Barron and Xhekaj need to play and Lindstrom can play 7D

How many trades of any significance are made pre deadline let alone pre US Thanksgiving?
Just a few days ago, Pens media pundits said the team was looking into improving via trades and only Crosby was not on the available list. They moved Eller not long after.
