If you don't have the patience to wait for Newhook, Barron, Reinbacher, Dach, Slaf develop, you won't have the patience for Jiricek.
Agree, we do not need another projects, especially not on D. I would trade for some experienced RHD, but not too old. The problem is, there are so few of them in the league. RHD in the age between 22 - 28, there are just 49 guys in whole NHL and very few of them are actually good and available.
We either decide to pay big prize for someone like Andersson, Dobson, Bouchard or we stick to the plan with our own D prospects like Barron, Mailloux, Reinbacher or some lefties.

Unless Habs are willing to surrender Redenbacher, Hage, Beck + unprotected 1st… they will be outbid for Jiricek

Preds have 3 1sts + prospects …and will overpay as needed for a young D…. Trotz is all in this season
If Preds are all in Trotz would have absolutely no interest. Jiricek won't help them this year and probably not next either.

I haven't really watched Jiricek in the last 2 years so I don't know where he's at, but the pedigree is there and the potential is tantalizing. He's kinda injury prone though. That would make two young 6'3 RD with significant recent injuries

With CGY's 1st, CBJ's 2nd, Roy, Newhook, Barron and the Habs own picks, there's enough pieces to make a deal. I don't know at what point the price becomes too much

On the Savard trade, I'd do it sooner than later. He might get injured and, honestly, as @MarkovsKnee said, the defence looked much more mobile without him in the lineup. Even if the Jiricek trade doesn't happen, Barron and Xhekaj need to play and Lindstrom can play 7D

How many trades of any significance are made pre deadline let alone pre US Thanksgiving?
Just a few days ago, Pens media pundits said the team was looking into improving via trades and only Crosby was not on the available list. They moved Eller not long after.

If the goal of this organization is to be in the mix and be more competitive, they need to get a 2C. Lots of focus on top 4RD, which I think is also an area of need, but one that can be address later. But Evans needs to get back into his 3C role and Dach is still far from being able to securing that spot.

I’d be interested to see where Jiricek was on the Habs’ draft board. If he was 2nd or 3rd behind Slaf, then I could see why they’d have a conversation about Reinbacher who is now 2 years behind because of his injury.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for either prospect. Both have had knee surgeries.

I was never high on Jiricek, so I wouldn’t bother, but I recall others here had him very high on their lists. What if HuGo has the same opinion?

Wouldn’t it be something if the Habs were somehow able to get their hands on Crosby for Dach + 1st… taking on full AAV

I will now wake up from dream state…

It would make a lot of money for Molson, but trading for Crosby is pretty much pointless. Signing him, sure.

Kris Letang, if the Habs trade for any of those 3 players is the likely one.

He should be cheaper and the pens are likely retaining if he's being shipped out.

He trains/practices with the Habs in Brossard pretty much every season.

He's from the area.

He's a right hand d.

He's a veteran and he's won 3 cups.

As much as he wants to win, I can see him rather being closer to "home" than going for it again.

Depending on how much the pens retain, he's not costing a lot to acquire.

That's if he wants to leave, which I imagine all 3 stay at this point.
