No chance trading Reinbacher.
I wouldn't bet on this. Quite some interesting RD in the next draft, plus him showing nothing means we could move sideways and get someone less injury prone.
We're not trading Reinbacher. His only knocks are he's currently injured and may have been a worse pick than Michkov. He's not a lost cause.
He doesn't have any pluses either. The GM can always change his mind and target some other RD.

Here's a recent article with clips that describe Jiricek's game.

Is it a question of IQ or development?

The posts here about his difficulty in processing the game, raise doubts. The quoted article seems to point to similar concerns in breaking down a sequence:

« Jiricek needed to be more assertive at the outset of this play and more aggressive identifying how the play was developing in his zone. He essentially checked nobody in this sequence. »

And another:

« The following sequence speaks volumes about the current state of Jiricek’s game and why the Jackets' coaching staff has little trust in his defensive awareness at the NHL level right now.

Instead of keeping things simple and the play in front of him, Jiricek runs out of place to chase the play into the neutral zone. He’s entirely out of position as the puck ends up in the back of the Blue Jackets net. »

Maybe the Habs can hedge their risk with whatever intel they can gather from Pascal Vincent. However, since many teams would be bidding, I’m expecting the price to be prohibitive and am not sure Hughes is prepared to pay it, unless it involves dealing redundant assets.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
no matter what people think of dach, I just dont see any reason to trade him for zegras

i think height is very relevant when it comes to this team for sure.
Oh I don't think we should trade him for Zegras at all , im actually against it but im just saying he has not have been physical at all for us.

What do you mean interesting RDs?

The soonest I see right now are in the 2nd half of the first round (and only 3 or 4 of them).

That is a poor top RD year without hindsight definitely under the last few years.

There are no Reinbacher level RD in this draft without hindsight.

The only one in the top 15 this draft is Logan Hensler - U of Wisconsin.

There's 6'6" Mrtka :naughty:

Glancing quickly at the lists: Hensley and Fiddler also. I really could not care less about Reinbacher's pedigree. If he's spending the majority of his development time in the IR, I could see a quick move to patch up what we're lacking and another dice cast with this draft.

Sound like Barron.
Barron struggles from a lack of execution more than anything else.
Either by not making the simple play or by not winning more puck battles using his frame to relieve pressure...

The same switch Arber Xhekaj managed to turn on to move his game forward again.

We know that any GM who would trade off a very high underperforming draft pick within 2-3 years of a draft is high fiving the Grim Reaper and so pretty much no GM does it. Then it gets tricky as the prospects value has gone down. Trade or no ? From what I can see many fans think you trade to at least get something back. But GMs seem to wait longer.

So the player may become nothing and you get nothing. But then you also have situations like the Rangers and Laffy and Kaako. Both seemed like busts 2 years ago but now especially Laffy are looking good.

Now I know probably 40 percent of our posters will say I told you so about Laffy but oh shock that, a 1st OA underperforming and a Quebecois ? Lol. Would have said same about Daigle and PLD.

Personally I think the asset you get back is typically not worth moving a young guy. In my book you let competition dictate and when you can't protect him from waivers anymore then fine. Look at Xhekaj, people wanted him gone 2 weeks ago. Dach is a bum etc. May be so, but no reason to move him , see the year through and if he doesn't grab the 2C then we look for a 2C.

Rainman for Jiricek who says no? (I say no but I'm a homer)

Value must be similar/relatively high no? Maybe Jiricek has more.

That said Jiri is pretty physically mature for his age , not sure Reinbacher even has a single hair on his chin yet

The club loves Reinbacher. They wouldn’t be inclined to trade him away just because of an ACL before he can even get started.

Unless Habs are willing to surrender Redenbacher, Hage, Beck + unprotected 1st… they will be outbid for Jiricek

Preds have 3 1sts + prospects …and will overpay as needed for a young D…. Trotz is all in this season

I say no. All our RD prospects are offensively minded with defensive flaws except for Reinbacher whose a defence first guy. From all accounts, Jiricek is of the same mold and has big lapses in his defensive coverage. We need a Reinbacher more than we need a Jiricek

We say no because Reinbacher still has a pretty big ceiling despite the injuries. Jiricek gives me vibes that he’s an early peaker. I think what you see from him now is more or less what you’ll get moving forward. I don’t see a lot of room for growth.

Dach has 39 hits in 19 games played. he ranks 4th on the team as of today.

Dach's timing and offensive instinct are off but his physicality is good.

I would like him to move his feet more, sometimes he looks sluggish.
