Tanev could help. But in a month from now Laine will be back and Slaf in a week. + Heineman is playing rather well.

Dave Pagnotta mentioned on 690 Lawson Crouse be perfect for Habs. Big body, 27, decent contract, 20-25 goals. Said Boston and Calgary tried to acquire him in past but the prize was steep. He said Utah probably ask for defense. They lost 2 recently to long term injury.

Price would be steep but he's a good add

William Carrier should've been signed in the offseason.
Contract.

But you're right, one of the many bottom 6/13th forwards that have physicality and toughness should have been signed.

It's what I was going on about at the time and will agree with anyone who wants it now.

That is not a bottom-6 player. ... And the price to pay for him absolutely won't be in line with prices normally paid for bottom-6 players.

This year. Within 2 years he would be.
Hughes is apparently looking for bottom-6 help now, that would costs assets in line with a bottom-6er, and that wouldn'T screw up future plans.

Thinking of Crouse for long term does directly against those two aims.

So did several posters here for the past 2 years lol...

He wasn't available in AZ & with the move to Utah, I doubt he'll be made available now. As much as they need D, with their top 6 forward group I doubt they'd move him... But certainly would hope KH at least kicks those tires.

I don't see how adding a top-4 RHD would block any of our prospects, Mailloux and Reinbacher are our only RHD prospects and we will always need three RD. Also with Rein's injury and Mailloux's defense we should be easing them into the lineup slowly. If both Reinbacher and Mailloux are studs we can just let Savard walk or sign him cheap and trade him when the time comes.

For bottom 6 guys you really want to fill it with your own prospects to keep costs down. Otherwise unless you are adding real bottom of the barrel guys you can spend too much. Maybe have an anchor, best if the C on each of the bottom lines, but you shouldn't be paying $10M for a 3rd line.

Agreed. And I know you didn't name him, but while I want long neck to have a chance, he's not the player who you prevent yourself from getting a top 4 guy.

People need to stop with these posts. Until they have played for a few years Reinbacher is as much a top 2 d as Michkov is a top line forward.
That's just not true. One is already playing in the NHL and is PPG. The other hasn't proven anything yet

I wonder if Utah would be interested in matheson. Not that we should offload - but would be curious on what they'd offer. Habs should at least be listening even if they'd prefer to hold on to Matheson
