If Bunting stays productive, he may have good value in the last year of his contract for a trade. Pretty much the biggest reason I’d consider an Allen-bunting swap.

Bunting is already 28 though.

I hate Bunting. I think acquiring Bunting could be pretty bad. I could see him do very well here like Tatar but ultimately he doesn't make our team better when it matters. He's the type of guys who can get you to the bubble but not past it. I've seen him enough in playoffs and important games to know i don't want him in my team.
You're not wrong, but we won't have to worry about making the playoffs for a while

I mean Allen is 33. Not really sure why some here think that Allen is worth more. Bunting would be our 3rd most productive forward. Canes aren't really scoring much outside of Aho so it's not like Bunting is benefiting from playing on an offensive powerhouse.

After last season it's fairly obvious the assets we want to move aren't worth a heck of a lot. Many of us are just hoping we blow a couple of holes in our forward group for guys like Heineman and probably Beck. One player not talked about much is Jake Evans I'd move him in a heartbeat if I could. Our specialist isn't all that special considering we are rocking a 31st spot on the PK.
He would clear waivers.

Another team who might be on the "goalie sweepstake" now: the Wilds. They lost Gustavsson (week to week) which means MAF is now the starter and his backup is a 31 years old who haven't played in the NHL since 2016-2017 (and only 8 games total).

I feel like the most likely way to acquire Leonard wouldnt be by trading picks and prospects, but by trading a Matheson + assuming WAS is in a playoff spot by TDL. Most of their ACGM on capfriendly involve acquiring an offensive D (and a C). Maybe something like Matheson and Monahan for Leonard and a second (+ Mantha for cap)?
Ryan Leonard?? 8th oa last draft? And they add a 2nd on top? Plus Mantha?
Man…

They're gonna have to start winning and with a Kaprizov injured as well, that might get complicated.

I do think a second for Allen might be reasonable. Hughes is looking for a first but if teams are willing to add a good prospect, HuGo will pull the trigger. A second and prospect for Allen is more than a reasonable return. I expect another dull trade deadline. Armia, Anderson and Gally are unmovable. Mony can get another second. That's it, really.

I don't know about that? If I was Washington Leonard be untouchable.

I don't know why Gorton is stuck on hanging onto vets so much. Been hanging around Bruins too long or something. Finishing 27th in league instead of 31st is not going to instill winning culture on your team. You weaken your team for higher picks. Hanging onto vets like Anderson or Matheson just wrecks your draft. They can get a shot at a cup and you use the picks for a Heidt or Hrabal. Somehow Gorton doesn't get the memo!!
