Matheson has great skill but not hockey smarts to match. While he has good numbers this season now the time to trade him. While his value is high. He's not in long term future for Habs.

Matheson should be traded by March 8th, Wifi called up.Finish his development in Montreal.

Friedman - I've heard people say there's what Montreal is asking and what they're willing to accept.

Toronto put out feelers to get a backup, were offering a 6th and didn't get a bite. Teams were apparently asking for more, even for the middling goalies.

Gibson hard to move as no one can take the full contract and retention would raise his price up a lot.

Habs will likely need to retain on Allen, he's not worth the same as Gibson, but the cost is high.

Did he actually say Tor offered a 6th?
Their starter is waived and having an identity crisis and you offer a 6th??????!!!!!

I can see Montreal asking for a 1st for Allen. Probably something like Allen & a 2024 3rd for a 2024 1st.

I think Montreal would take a contract back in lieu of retaining.

Other teams will look at him if they feel like they need a puck moving or offensive boost to their middle pair. No teams are fooled by the fact that he plays top minutes, and won't pay premium assets just based on that.

The best the Habs can hope for in this situation if they do want to trade him is that there are many teams looking for exactly what Matheson provides, and not alot of supply. These are the actual elements that will have the most impact on driving up his value.

Defensemen at trade deadline sometimes go for more than they worth. I would ask for Toffoli type return,? A first and solid prospect

Kakko I would like to trade for this summer. His speed and size be good for forecheck and puck retrieval. Should make good third liner. He handles the puck well. Doesn't have the hands to play in top 6. Just have to wait until price goes down on him.
