So many teams need a goalie. What is Hughes waiting for?
That a GM calls him and pay what he is asking to get one instead of saying they should get one for free because they would actually be helping the Habs...

Teams having available goalies are clearly asking for a lot more than what goalies were traded for the last few years and desperate teams aren't interested in paying.

Same thing with Bruins and Poitras.
All our issues come from awful scouting. Until I am proven otherwise, I consider them the worst in the league.
See Bobrov/Gorton draft record with Rangers.
That was Bergy/Timmins last pick in Mailloux for Knies draft.
Not Hugo.

Ok buddy, the Habs' 2022 and 2023 drafts were the worst in the league.
Relatively, with the drafting power the Habs had, id say they did pretty poor.

Not worst in the league, that belongs to Arizona by quite the landslide. Wouldnt know about the other 30 teams though. Maybe Id rank the Blues and Wings lower than us and honestly if we ignore Bedard, which is impossible, Id do Chicago too.

Aside from that its up for grabs.

We'll see how it goes but I haven't liked what I have seen so far. 3 goalies in the last draft alone. What the hell? Pick one you like and then roll the dice on a high risk, high reward player with the other 2 picks.

Still too early to judge 2022 and 2023 I agree but go back and look at the Rangers draft under Bobrov.

It's too early to tell but I'm going to guess you're mistaken.

Slafkovsky looks like the right pick at #1.

Hutson, Mesar, Engstrom, Beck, Fowler, Konyshov, Miller, Xhekaj, look as good as we can expect at this point. Often players are already busting at this point.

Reinbacher had an injury so we'll wait and see.

Poitras is nothing special. Until we see what the 2022 and 2023 draftees end up to be your post is ridiculous.
A local drafted by a hated rival is always going to cause a FOMO for some fans. They might even see the guy as better than he really is on account of it and small sample size be damned.

32 thoughts, the episode just released yesterday, Friday December 29th.

Friedman said that he was told the cost for goalies is extortion right now. He later mentioned Hughes likely has a price in mind for a goalie and will move a little, but not much and obviously no team has gotten close to his ask.

It seems the teams with extra goalies are unlikely to budge. They want full value and they likely don't want to deal a goalie just to need a goalie if they suffer an injury themselves.

It seems teams wanting 3 goalies will be a common thing, but not as the Habs are doing it, but like 3 NHL caliber goalies.

If Hughes holds onto Allen until he loses the market, like he did with Josh Anderson, it will be very funny indeed.

We haven’t had great players available, including a first overall. All projects.

Has there been a more under under appreciated team this year than Winnipeg?

20-9-4 with a great mix of skill, speed and size.

Throw in great goaltending and they could make a serious run.

Wonder if Savard and Monahan with retention would interest them as solid vet additions.

Would love either Barlow, Lambert or Lucius in return

Hey, they can have Armia back too, as a throw-in!
