Would love to get Cozens from Buffalo. They seem to think he would be better suited to be a winger, which would make him a great long-term partner for Dach and Newhook. Buffalo's pipeline is filled with centers and wingers, but they are lacking in D, especially on the right side to play with Power and Dahlin. Reinbacher for Cozens, do we do it?

I wouldnt. I don’t see any Dman as a futur top 2 caliber dman in mtl except for Reinbacher and Guhle. Hutson will be a QB specialist playing on a second pair. Mailloux and barron are 3/4 rd dman material. Then, if you trade Reinbacher, you will need to find another one.

So how long until Holland goes to get a goalie?

Lose 3-1 despite outshooting Ilses 31-21...

Campbell is largely ineffective in the AHL...

The new coach bump & McJesus getting healthy got them out of the basement, but their shaky goaltending and overall roster issues might still keep them out of the playoffs unless Kenny is willing to make some improvements.

Omg please no. There is no denying he's talented but those stats are inflated playing on the leaf PP for what 5 years now. He shies away from contact and tough play often. That guy will score 60 pts on the Habs, very few wingers are worth 11m in this league and I doubt he's one of them.

Keep that money to take a run at Draisatl or something
I strongly disagree - he was always good but hes cracked this year.

He is a wizard at zone entry which is something I'd love to see with the Habs. And this year he's driving the play alot more. Plus he's been their best playoff forward past 3 years.

Nylander is exactly the type of player we need in my opinion. Skill, IQ, hands, confidence. He's money

One prospect I always loved is Matt Coronato in Calgary. If they go scorched earth this summer after their painful talent exodus, I’d call every day to see if they feel a Dach-type trade is in the cards for them. Bumping Andy to 3rd line duty and Gally to fourth would be best for everyone, all in their right chairs

Hold on to your deadwood everybody — for some time yet.

Looking at you Oilers — enjoy Pickard and Skinner and keep pegging your hopes on Campbell all thanks to your cheap-ass ways.

The Scrivens for Kassian deal was rumored during the freeze and happened once it was lifted, so maybe there will be some talk spring up.

Or the "insiders' will just make shit up

As I’ve been saying trades of any value only start mid-Jan as deadline window opens up - prices to acquire players are simply too high before that point.

Which is why canning the coach & hoping for a quick bump is the only option for GMs prior to Jan - hoping to buy time for market pricing to depreciate

Nothing prevents GMs from discussing the parameters of a deal but only announce it after the freeze is over, as I understand it.

Timing is not right. The last thing you want to do is pay 30M in next 3 years while your team is still not ready to contend and waste his prime years. It makes no sense.

3 more years? This team is not that far off, definitely not 3 years away. Add Newhook and Dach into the mix, were up there IMO.

UFA's of that nature don't become available very often, in case we do struggle another year or two it's better off having him already.

Absolutely agreed. And it's not like we are guaranteed to sign a prime UFA the following years. Those players don't usually come here. It will probably be the same thing with Nylander but if there is a possibility to sign him, HuGo absolutely can't deny him only for the sole reason we are 1 year to soon.

That's supposed to be CC. Dach is the weak link here. You need a better center presence, not injured all the time and as dangerous as your #1. Not the case right now obviously.

Nylander will be 31 by the end of 2026-2027 season. That's not bad and I think his game will age nicely anyways. I don't mind paying 10M for a player of his calibre especially considering we should be at least a playoff team by then.

At some point we need to start acquiring these players. I don't see anyone in our pipeline that could fill that need so it's gotta come via trade or UFA.

UFA cost money but zero assets. If we sign Nylander, We'd still have all our assets left over to make 1-2 trades to acquire even more firepower.
