yup, but if we lose a guy again and can't trade him, then what???
I honestly have that fear as well. Especially for a ufa. Then you lose them for nothing.

Don’t think that because these guys might be doing poorly right now on a rebuilding team necessarily means that they aren’t valued around the league.

Start trading Kent, I have a bad feeling about the older guys going down to injuries in the short future
Trading now would mean trading at a lesser value than nearer to trade deadline.

Teams are well aware of, for example, Monahan’s injury history, I doubt much are willing to trade prime asset right now knowing he’s probably getting hurt between now and the playoffs. Much less risk, because it’s much closer to playoffs time,of injuries once you get to the trade deadline.

And I know it’s usually better to get something now than nothing later but Habs have plenty of 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks in the comings drafts, i’d rather they gamble and wait to get a 1st than getting another day 2 pick.

No one wants what we have.

Its fair to question the value of who Montreal would be willing to trade, but the notion that no one wants what Montreal would offer doesn't really jive with any recent trade bait/target list or insider reports.

And if retention is needed it would have to be a 1st if the trade was now since there is only one retention spot left this season. Otherwise they would wait until the trade deadline to see if they cn do better.

Don't see a game thread for tomorrow yet... according to Le Journal Motormouth is getting another start tomorrow. 2 in a row. A clear #1 :D

I think teams know that MTL is a great source for good role players. However, it's pretty obvious that trying to lean on these guys as primary contributors for a full season makes us a bad team and has a pretty big impact on counting stats. If a team is trying to acquire depth we're a one stop shop with a fair bit of cap flexibility.

Not much you can do.. we can't force another team to make a trade with us.

Monahan being healthy until the trade deadline is also something teams are probably mindful of.
It's the only thing GM's will be looking at. If healthy he can help in a big way.

Carolina kinda need to win now and the have all kind of prospect, not sure this move the needle for them.

It doesn't. For all his faults, Necas is 2nd on their team in points, they aren't going to trade him for leftovers.

He's also not a player I'd want Montreal to target in a trade, but that doesn't really matter.

I was joking of course but realistically there won't be many teams calling about Anderson because of his contract and his drop off in production. Savard might get us a 3rd-5th round pick and Monahan if healthy might return us a 2nd-rounder.

If the only thing they can get for Savard is a 3rd, or even a 2nd, they'll keep him.
He has another year left on his contract and he's not overpaid.

If Monahan is healthy and performing decently, they'll be a small bidding war for his services.
At 2M, or possibly 1M, he can help pretty much all contenders with his versatility.
I'd be surprised if he can't get at least a late 1st.

We'll see.

Heard Danny Dubé say how much of an impact Savard has in practices. He makes the coaching staff’s job a lot easier as he goes all out on each of the reps they’re asking the players to do.

When a vet like Savard puts himself through that kind of effort and dedication, it sets a standard for younger players.
Yeah, Savard solid defensively is why. Best defensive guy we have by a mile

I want the team to improve so I'm not in favour of a lot of trades prior to the youth being ready.

I guess Allen, one of Lindstrom/Kovacevic, and Monahan can go to the highest bidder.

That is so sad :ha:
And I like the big chubby puck muncher. But if he is the best we have... ay-yoy.

I know, but with our injury luck of the past couple of seasons, it's just normal to have that bad feeling that someone tradable will be off the market cause of an injury
I know all about bad feelings. Trust me. They are real.
