Anderson's issue isn't chemistry. Guy has been setup with enough quality scoring chances by a few members of this team, including Suzuki, Monahan, Slafkovsky & Caufield. His issue is he can't execute on any of these opportunities. He either misses the net or shoots it at the goalie. He seems to have lost all ability to score goals by beating a goalie.
You are right, he cant burry the chance he's being given, but to me that exacerbate the underlying problem that he's impossible to match on a line. I can't recall (other then during this pre-season) a time when he was on a line where, as a collective, they dominated. When you see Anderson having a good game, it's because he turned on "beast" mode on, not because all him and his linemates are finding each other, in a magical way.

Dont get me wrong, I always like the player and I think that while he's a bit overpaid, he's not a negative asset. Sometime a players is not a the right place at the right time and I'm starting to think that this is the case for him. That said, he's not the main problem either on the team right now, so trading him isn't a priority. KH should focus on finding top end skill, C in particular and a RD with top 4 potential.

No team other than Wings showed any interest in Radulov. The others weren’t in the Nylander mold of top tier talents.

As Gord Miller repeatedly states “it’s well known in NHL circles top end players especially want no part of Cdn markets”

I mean even Tavares isn't playing like a 10M player and it's hurting the Leaf's capspace and ability to build a roster to not just be good in the regular season but be good in the playoffs. And Tavares is still a point per game player.
One could say that but I think they're mismanagement of money spent on depth players that hasn't worked out or their inability to develop their own has a lot more to do with their inability to win than Tavares.

Nonsense.

In the cap era the Habs have signed Hamrlik, Cammalleri, Giontas, Radulov, Toffoli, etc they've done well overall.
Beside Toffoli who saw Suzuki and KK performed in the playoff and had MTL as a top options, (he still sign a pretty significant deal vs. what was signed that summer), we over paid all of them and all of them were in the tail years of their prime of pass their prime not of them were the top UFA available…

Gionta going back to NJ with MtL offer to get them to match is the funniest story I ever hear.

The Habs did not overpay for Hamrlik, Cammalleri, Radulov, and Toffoli.

Oilers Were Scouting the Canadiens and Predators Game

Apron Basu of The Athletic reported that Oilers Assistant GM Brad Holland was at the Montreal Canadiens vs. Nashville Predators game. Jason Strudwick and Ryan Rishaug of the Got Yer’ Back Podcast talked about the rumors and speculated that the Oilers might be looking at one of Sean Monahan or Josh Anderson. Neither said that they had any inside information on either player, but they said they could see the logic in either player.

The most obvious link to Montreal would be a goaltender, so it’s interesting that both would suggest the Oilers might have been looking at a forward. Rishaug pointed out that the Oilers have liked Anderson in past seasons and the Canadiens might be looking to shed that contract off of their books. He’s a $5.5 million cap hit for the next three seasons after this one. He’s also only got one goal this season.

Essentially there's no reason to do another team a favor because they don't want to spend a higher draft pick to fix their goaltending troubles.

Alternatively, take the best offer available.

It frees up Primeau to play more games, it frees up cap for next year.

I don't see how the Oilers could possibly absorb an Anderson contract.

No thoughts being given to EDM scouting NSH? I dont see a fit for a EDM-MTL trade

Exactly. The Oilers need players but have little or no cap space. The team that trades with them would need to eat half of the contract .
If Habs are retaining that would require a 1st+ in return. They could take back a shorter bad contract instead and settle for an unprotected 1st

There is bound to be a major injury to a starting goalie from a contending team somewhere, as it happens every season.

Timing is everything. Allen also owns Stanley Cup finals experience that a lot of GMs hold in high regard.

The best offer always comes in times of desperate need.
