Would you guys trade Guhle if on the other end of the trade we would receive a pick for one of the top forward of the draft?

If yes، where would you draw the line?

How about going after Detroit’s Jonatan Berggren ?

23 year old Swede with decent size who scored 15 goals in his rookie year last year and who’s done very well in the SHLand more importantly AHL

Not sure why but apparently he is being made available.

Would a second rounder and Harris make sense?
Isn't he 5'10?

Also for me it would have to be Celebrini. It would be nice to get Celebrini and we'd still have our pick. We could really help our forward talent and really put us on the path. I like Ghule a lot and it would hurt but we have so many quality defense guys coming up. It would/could be a great thing for the habs.

None as good as Guhle though.

I'm guessing Celebrini+Levshunov would be pretty good though.

In 2017, when the Habs were massacred by the Rangers in the first round due to Radulov not having help, they actually had an open path to the finals. The Eastern Conference was quite weak that year. Given that the Habs' had an aging team it's too bad that the team didn't add at the deadline.
The team added players close to the deadline. 5 players none the less. We added Jordie Benn, Bradon Davidson, Dwight King, Steve Ott and Andres Martinsen.

Shows how bad our top 6 is

No one trades away a #1 pick in a draft...
Never happen unless you waaaay over pay
The best way for this org to land that elusive, elite forward scoring talent remains the draft.

And this org does not tank, they play to win and hold on to their better assets unlike teams like the Hawks. Which means, we’re not likely to finish with the type of high pick that secures the profile of that offensively gifted player they need.

We’ll see if HuGo can overcome the traditional barriers to entry here whenever they’ll dip into the UFA market (fishbowl, weather, taxes — even if there are some soft landing tax and deferral options available in Canada).

Which to me, leaves us with one crucial, more secure element to exploit outside of development and analytics — to build the best scouting contingent that money can buy and hold on to it long term. These are the guys who will typically outlast executive terms. And who increase your chances of nabbing a valued drafting asset at a later slot.

We’ll have to wait and see how our Buddy Hires stack up and how much turnover there’ll be among the scouts who were held over from prior management.

We also need to revamp the coaching staffs at both the NHL and AHL level. I am not saying MSL needs to go but I feel we could do better with assistant coaches.

That would be a development issue and it certainly can be addressed much more easily than scouting as the better scouting teams tend to hold on to their personnel.

However, you can only polish an average talent to a limited extent — you need your scouting people to land you those diamonds in the rough considering the likely scenario that we may not be drafting very early, for the reasons offered in my prior post.

Totally agree with the scouting department. How many solid young guys right in our backyard have been ignored by our scouts over the years? Heck Marchassault and Gourde weren't even drafted and Palat was drafted in the 7th round out of the Q.

Nashville believed that they had a lot of defensemen.

Guhle has looked ineffective lately.

Fans are elevating him as a no1 dman, but he's not that yet. Can he become one, sure but he wont be a top and complete 1D like Hedman or Josi, or an offensive one like Makar or Hugues. He most likely will be a top tier shutdown guy.

He still need to become stronger (get push alot) and get better balance overall. His play reading is good, which will improve, and with his speed, that will make it a hard guy to go around.

That being said, he wont put crazy numbers, at least for several more seasons. He's mindset is set to D not O and he's not taking any risk. So he either needs to be paired with another very strong Def Dman to be freed up from that responsibility, or he'll need to mature into that role overtime.

He will be a solid 2nd pairing
