I don't think going from Avs 2nd to TOR 1st is enough of a return to take Klingberg.

As a cap spending team in the middle of a cup focused window, I don't think the Laffs would dare touch Price's contract.

You mistake height for play style.
Going from Avs 2nd to TOR 1st is worth around a mid 2nd.
They're already very thin in high draft picks in the next 3 years. I don't see them giving up another 1st just to get rid of Klingberg.
Unless they're really in a jam and only one team can help them.

We'll see. It's a good bet that they'll try to get rid of him.
Either for Kane or someone else.

There are teams that just can't wait until the TDL , means you Oilers, and they have to act now. If I'm the Oil I wouldn't have any interest in the Habs goalies. Oilers should just pay up and with especially futures if possible, get a guality goalie. But if Holland wants to go cheap, let's talk.

And then there's our Cap space.

I'm sure Hughes has been clear to every team we are open for business, just see if anyone comes forward.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
At this point im legit just waiting for Allen to be traded. Idc how , get rid of him.

add a pick to get a better pick if necessary and trade him with an ahler goalie who we can call up if needed.

Watching many teams in the league and some of those don't even have better goalies than Allen in the net , says alot.

I just saw that Alex Gascon (Radio-Canada) said that Hughes took all the local media pundits by surprised by starting negotiation with Monty because their impression was that the Habs didn't want to keep him. According to him, that pretty much means Allen is getting moved once Monty's extension is done.

He is, but why are you lumping the two as "small forwards"? Theyre both average forwards. What is big? Over 6'3?

Too complicated for you to process I guess.

Like I said, it's as simple as your proposal was bad. No need to waste thread space with more posts explaining why.

Let's check back in March and see what type of assets Hughes looks to add and I'll be happy to eat crow if it's a diminutive forwards that needs to play in a top 6/offensive production role to contribute.

Clear enough for you?

Hughes won't care about the size of the player he is acquiring. He will only care about talent and character. He can always trade Robertson for something else later if the team is too small.

Kent Johnson is the guy we should go after in a Dach-like scenario. Had 40 points in his D+2 but for some reasons have been demoted to the AHL this year after 8 games.

Major top 6 upside. Way way better and promising than Robertson imo.

I dont know what we could offer for him tho. CLB has many good Ds.

Johnson is softer than RoboII and he certainly wont come for free.

What would you trade Slaf for? Assume thats Johnsons value.

In this case it wasn't. Robertson is worth more than a late 1st. Leafs would be more likely to move a 1st.

Robertson is worth what a team is willing to give up for him.

While I could see another org valuing him at that cost, I doubt Hughes/Habs would give up a late 1st for him, let alone more.

It's not about size alone. Just like it isn't about character alone.

Then, since he is probably going to be a 70 point forward,, the only question about Robertson is health.

I agree with you ReHabs its not a good contract at first look. But there is only one year left on his deal.

It dont hurt us because the term is low and easily absorbale.

MSL was on record saying that Allen won't be here to profit from the shadow of the three he planted.

In other words, they got him on the backside of his career and explicitly stated he won't be here when we will be ready to truly compete.

Thats f***ing tough and Allen has swallowed the pill and has bringed in a positive attitude in all of this.

I think that is the reason why they "massively" paid him. I think its simply good business as Allen is a valuable pieces in the rebuild, he sucks and he is a good vet.
This is so true, and something I was saying recently about Allen is even though it sucks to be on a poor team from his POV his position is the hardest for job security in the league, and Allen is known dork when it comes to goalie union stuff so being the starter for Montreal is a huge career milestone for him and it also ensures he can stay in the big leagues.

I think other teams would consider Allen but no one can offer such job security for him. So even though he's not going to enjoy the contending window in question, he's still getting a lot out of this arrangement.

Its true that he is soft tho.

I would consider Slaf untouchable to be honest. Dont think its the case with Johnson, they are handling him strangely.

Well, his value would be a very high pick or a young promising forward i guess. Not sure i would do the former (example we have a 6-10OV pick) and we dont have the latter.

Don’t think he’s available

Its been speculated he may ask for a trade when sent down.

Caufield was sent down too and Johnson has as many points as Slaf in 6 less games. If he was a Hab, youd consider him untouchable too.

Hes not a realistic target, unless he does ask for a trade

I thought you were legit waiting for a better pizza spot, instead. :sarcasm:

I had someone try it for the very first time yesterday and was told it was the best pizza that individual ever had.

Extra large all dressed, ordered well cooked and with filling to the brim. You get 10% off by picking it up. Came to $40 all in and I’m still having a slice today and it tastes even better when warmed up in the oven (350 degrees, 15-20 mins).

Mentioned the place already: Restaurant Di Menna, been ordering for years.
