Humans will only evolve when there is a collective iron will to privilege reason over emotion, and science over opinions.

Unfortunately, that collective will is nowhere on the horizon.

I digress... I'll let people carry on with their hockey discussions. What player are we bashing on right now, already?
There appears to be regular devolution rather than constant evolution with mankind.

Group think is the enemy as it leads to pitchforks and torches mentality.

He's having a tough year. Some players just need a change of scenery. Dach and Newhook come to mind, why not Zegras?

Is Caufield a player to win games? We've lost every season Caufield was here. Is Suzuki a player to win games? etc. Is Josh Anderson a player to win games?

Seems like a difficult question to answer -- all I know is Zegras is a very skilled and very young player who has high hockey IQ and has had two 60pt seasons in his very short career so far (and on a bad team, no less). MSL's system needs players like him. If we can acquire him for cheap it's a no brainer imo.
Why not Zegras?

There can be many reasons, but offensive talent isn't one.

If Zegras refuses to even consider his defensive assignments, he's not McDavid level good offensively that it wouldn't matter.

Zegras is basically PLD good offensively, minus the defensive upside.

MSL is only as good with players as their willingness to listen and apply his teachings.

If Vancouver keep going. Id try to go for Lekkerimaki for Monahan.
Upgrade to Bluegar on the 3rd line.

Well Allen isn't moveable unless we retain/take back salary and Primeau won't net more than a 5th in my opinion. I'd also like to see how he does against easier teams since he always gets the hardest teams.
Primeau? Last 2 seasons (8 games) played 4 non-po teams… nothing special there.

One guy I would like to take a chance on who I think would flourish until MSL would be Farabee. He is stuck on a shit team with a dinosaur coach in Tortorella, but he has lots of speed, skill and is only 23 so I think he can breakout with a change of scenery.

We lack a left hand shot on the PP so he could help there, plus he'd give Suzuki or Dach another offensive guy to play with next year.

I suspect at this point Montreal fans would welcome any player who is a star, Tik Tok, or otherwise.
Of course they would, but the honeymoon phase will wear out really quick, given sophistication of the market, when they realize the player doesn’t understand the game of hockey!!

Where does this come from, I see it posted ad nauseam?

It was Torts who coined the phase “safe is death” in NHL circles, during pre cap / dead puck era… he’s anything but a dinosaur coach

A good coach adjusts one’s system to the players they have at their disposal - the CBJ team in 19-20 played very similar hockey to that TBay Cup winning team in 03-04… oh yeah they had high end players.

His teams since haven’t had such luxury..

Realize that PHI has a good record with one of the worst lineups in the league ?

Zegras is far better offensively than Dubois. Don't know about his attitude or defensive play.

Over the last 16 seasons he coached since winning the cup, Tortorella has won a grand total of 4 playoff series. He continues to be recycled through teams mainly because he has success 2 decades ago.

He continues to be the same guy who is a hard ass and will bench and call out players and it usually doesn't take long before he wears out his welcome.

His coach is quoted as praising him and his defensive efforts and his buy in.
