Well Allen isn't moveable unless we retain/take back salary and Primeau won't net more than a 5th in my opinion. I'd also like to see how he does against easier teams since he always gets the hardest teams.

I'm hoping Primeau nets us a 3rd. Go with Allen & Montembeault. It's possible Allen goes if Sabres are desperate. Both their goalies are worse than Allen. They have a ton of prospects too.

I think a 3rd is insanely optimistic for Primeau who hasn't proven anything. I guess Allen makes some sense for the Sabres but I doubt we get a prospect since Allen stinks. Maybe something along the lines of Oloffson for Allen could work.

Buffalo has tons of cap room, so it's possible it's just draft picks - assuming Buffalo is interested. Something like a 2nd in 2024, 4th in 2025.

He's having a terrible time and seems like he needs a change of air. A buy-low candidate for sure...

I think he's a MSL-style player. I'd take him on.
Is Zegras willing to play the game in front of him and adapt his game to the game?

He's having a tough year. Some players just need a change of scenery. Dach and Newhook come to mind, why not Zegras?
He is a great player to sell Tickets. Is he a great player to win games though ?
Is Caufield a player to win games? We've lost every season Caufield was here. Is Suzuki a player to win games? etc. Is Josh Anderson a player to win games?

Seems like a difficult question to answer -- all I know is Zegras is a very skilled and very young player who has high hockey IQ and has had two 60pt seasons in his very short career so far (and on a bad team, no less). MSL's system needs players like him. If we can acquire him for cheap it's a no brainer imo.

My point was not related to ANA rebuild cycle more to the fact that Zegras has great hands, scores Lacrosse goals, but seems to avoid paying the price as mich as he can, is not a great two way player either. he is talented, no denying just not sure he is a top line player if you want to win a cup.

Let me say this, no team especially Anaheim will sell low on young players and potential franchise player like Trevor Z and therr would be a bidding war

Anaheim would be smart to not sell-low. If Kent Hughes is a good GM he's trying to get a sniff to figure out what's going on. I think it's fair for Habs fans to covet a player even if the player's team's fans don't want him sold. This is the Trade Proposal thread, after all.

Do you think he's a toxic player who'd refuse to listen to his coach's tactics and actively prevent good things from happening for his trio with hotdogging or an aversion to contact? I'm not sure, I never really watch non-Habs games and what I see from Zegras is a very skilled player who pulls off skill moves like I haven't seen Habs players pull in decades. I think his strengths are precisely what the Habs lack.

His coach says that despite the bad production he feels Zegras is trying to improve his two-way game

Cronin has been supportive of Zegras during the forward’s sluggish start on the scoresheet. “He’s getting unbelievable scoring chances every game. At least one, sometimes two of three. If he’s scoring on half of those, he probably gets seven goals and we’re not talking about this,” Cronin told Derek Lee of The Sporting Tribune on Nov. 6. “You dig deeper into his game. He’s making a real conscientious effort to defend well and analytically, he’s done really well in that department. I do think it’s a matter of time. I just talked to him about skating. He’s got to get more involved with his feet. He’s always been kind of a cerebral guy. He watches the game, he slows it down. He finds these pockets to pass the puck to. But we’ve got to get him to start moving his feet more.” [source]

If we're expecting our struggling young NHL players to improve, and we've already seen investments in other struggling young NHL players (Newhook, Dach) why not bet on the highly-skilled player to improve?

Zegras is a tik tok star, not a great hockey player which is why Anaheim won't pay him.

Of course not, but Zegras is also not a Pat “little ball of hate” Verbeek type player - make no doubt though, the GM will get his way in this battle, be it the player caves & modifies his game, incorporating more completeness, or is dealt to parts unknown

Like Kent Johnson, Matty Beniers, and a slew of USNTDP 1st round picks in recent history. Can thrown Caufield into the mix as well - all lack defensive acumen

That’s also why MSL & Hughes were brilliant hires for the Habs in the present - given their experience coaching this generation of player & many of them specifically through the ranks of competitive youth hockey programs in CT and Boston

???? He is signed until 2026-27.
I think post meant - it’s why Ana wouldn’t cave to Zegras’ asking $alary on a long term deal - instead ramming a lower AAV short term deal down his throat

Recall Zegras was rumored seeking a Caufield type deal

To Wash
Brogerg, Pearson

To Mtl
Mantha, '25 Wash 2nd,

To Edm
Allen (50% retained by Wash), R. Sutter, '24 Mtl 4th

Wash swaps Pearson for Mantha and adds Broberg at the cost of a 2nd and small retention next year.

Edm give up Broberg for Allen at under 2M$, a late pick and a Sutter to their farm team.

Mtl adds a 2nd and hopefully another pick/prospect closer to the deadline when moving Mantha with retention to a playoff contender looking for cheap fwd depth.

who says no?
No Mantha
