I suspect this year is going to go down as the trade deadline with the most extensions and the least trades in NHL history. We aren't even seeing the AHL level players on NHL contracts to boost affiliates teams trades.

The market must be crazy expensive or the contender GM extremely cheap...maybe both...for it to have no velocity.

Despite what Bergevin says not all teams believe anything can happen. The very top teams have specific needs they are targeting.
The wannabees aren't going to pay that premium they have to wait for the cheap seats to become available.

Henrique is really versatile. He plays wing as much as center and plays shutdown minutes. Makes a lot of sense for Edmonton to get an upgrade in goal prevention and a guy that can let them play McDavid and Draisaitl together more often.

They have good forward depth. If they can improve Ceci they will be a serious contender despite Skinner.

The regularly play Janmark in the top 6. I'm also not sure there's an improvement for Ceci in the spot they want to fill (next to Nurse) out there for them.

I doubt it, he’s really fallen off a cliff.

Though they just traded with the Flyers, there’s Scott Laughton. Maybe Nic Dowd if they are okay with Colton staying as 2C

All teams have holes. If they play Henrique as a 3rd line center they have a pretty good bottom 6 and with McDavid and Draisaitl they can afford a hole in the top 6. Henrique can play wing if they have to cut their bench when trailing. It's s very solid top 9. But having Ceci or Kulak as 4th dmen is pretty bad.

He finally did it. Called like two years ago he would have to do that at some point.

I really like that move for both sides. Buffalo has a ton of forward prospect depth and can replace Mittelstadt in the aggregate, and Colorado still has so much skill with Makar/Toews/Girard and desperately needed a real 2C. Buffalo gets a ceiling raiser and Colorado gets a desperately needed floor raiser.
