Wow, they managed to salvage some good value from Mantha.

I was going to say anything more than a 2nd is too much. A 2nd and a 4th is reasonable. Especially if there was no retention And at least the 2nd wasn't in 2025.

I think given the season he's having a 1st would be reasonable.

Remember. Toronto paid a 1st for Nick Foligno a couple of years ago when he wasn't productive.

But some times scoring wingers only go for 2nds, like Vanek when we got him, and Niedereiter when the Jets traded for him.

Mantha doesn't play big and you never know if he is going to show up. He didn't in 2 playoff appearances. I wouldn't give more than a 2nd. Which doesn't mean some GM wouldn't.

Mantha was a cap dump Washington would need to pay to get rid off earlier in the season. That's some increase in value...
If Anderson was an expiring contract Hughes would probably have gotten a 1st for him.

Although a 1st for Foligno was an overpay, Foligno brought a lot more to the table than Mantha does. Regular season production doesn't mean everything come playoff time.

Devils already down 2-0 to Florida. Shmid let in 2 in 6 SOG. Goaltending is 100% their priority.

Also...

As bad as their goaltending situation is, I'm watching that game right now and Hasek in his prime wouldn't be successful with NJ's turnovers in the neutral zone and piss poor coverage in the D zone.

If the Habs acquired Wahlstrom would seem like adding Gurianov last season. Seems like a player the Islanders are ready to move on from like Kieffer Bellows a couple of years ago. If the Habs are interested seems like they have plenty of late round draft picks to offer up one instead of Harris.

Screw that idea. Gurianov had some previous history producing in the NHL with a 20 goal season (in 64 games) and a productive playoff when Dallas went to the NHL Final. Wahlstrom couldn't even produce in the AHL. He is what he is which is a brutal NHLer who belongs in a landfill.
