Lekky was a role player with the Avs, and still is........................Rantanen, Mackinnon and Makar brought the Cup back for the Avs..........
Lekky was a role player with us, who struggled to score in a soccer net for almost two years.....Barron is 6 years younger, and is a PMD who is still developing. He has value, and does not make much money. Lekky is making 4-5 M bucks, and is still a role player, but now a role player who makes too much money.
Good role player who benefitted from playing with some big guns..............
Lehkonen has had a way bigger impact in his career with the habs than Barron as of now and of course MacKinnon or Rantanen or Makar have a bigger impact then Lehky in them winning the cup. What is this? Really?... I might just stop refrain posting on this board... never said that Lehkonen was the god and savior of the Avs. Lehkonen was brought in to fill a specific role and that role was very important in them winning the cup to provide depth scoring (which he did). You might believe he is not worth his salary (which i will disagree based on his age/profile/production) that still does not mean that having a current AHLer who has regressed since last year and a late 2nd are more valuable. I don't buy that.

Kova is a bit piece. Kova might return a 2nd if Mad Mike was still a GM but there are no fools who would offer that. If they did, they should be canned.

2nd have value and can be used in package.

They used a late first and a 2nd and got Newhook. Now, I'm not sold on Newhook just yet but this idea 2nd round picks don't have value is non-sense.

Romo was a 2nd and they used it to get the 13th overall and eventually Dach.

Send him to the airport if offered a second. Totally replaceable. Its David Savard, not Serge, lol.
How many time, I will have to repeat it... 2nd round pick is not important for a cup contender that want to win NOW!!
We are not talking about draft day trades or a player drafted and developped 6 years from now.

We are talking about an actual player that can provide depth on a win now team! You might think it is a fireable offense to trade away a 2nd round pick I find that quite ludicrous to believe first that trading a lower end 2nd round pick is such a huge deal, second, that teams can have decent pick up that play more NHL games than the magic bean they traded away. The lightning are a prime example of that with all the trades they have done in the past.

I agree a 2nd is nothing for a team thats going for it but they wont' give it for Kova. He is a bit player at the very best, actually junk.

There isn't a GM in the league dumb enough to make that move. Not one, delusional to think otherwise.

Heck, Jake Evans might fetch you two firsts and a A+ prospect, lol.

Convenient. Going for the 20% and ignoring the 80%.
Especially for a team that would compete now!! They don't care if a Lehkonen or a Romanov slip from them 6 years from now. Not to mention there are a significant difference between a late 2nd to a early 2nd at least in term of value.

Anyway my point was not to say we should not trade our player for a 2nd but how people have that tendency to believe a 2nd in return is pipe dream or phenomenal value.

For instance we traded Lehkonen for Barron and a 2nd round pick. Both have not shown anything special yet for us while Lehkonen has brought a Stanley Cup to the Avalanche and very good hockey since the trade.
Re-read your own post...........................you said " Lehkonen has brought a Stanley Cup to the Avalanche"
So I responded.
No need to get your bunches, in a bunch.
Post or don't post..........up to you but please re read what you post before you actually do.

Cheers....

I just forgot the word helped. Which happen but obviously MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar are their core players. It is still true that Lehkonen still had/have a significant role with them.

Evans and Kovacevic to Edm for a 2nd and prospect plus foegle as a cap dump. Edm can’t afford much salary but it would give them some depth and good pk players

I bet Evans ends up in Tampa.

for some reason I think Savard will end up in TO. The badly need a RD and I think Sav will go for a lower price than Walker.

If Savard went to TO he wouldn’t have to move his family. Doubt they’d trade a first for him. They have no 2nds. Not sure what they’d give up

Super stoked that our 2nd rd pick (which is basically a late 1st) is gone from the Dvo trade. The gift that keeps on giving for this gem.
