In the jar'o
Then a pissed Vancouver offer sheets Slaf or another young guy. We’ve played stupid games before.
Exactly. Offer sheeting isn't worth doing because you're going to have to overpay to get him and then you piss Vancouver off at the same time. And could you imagine the pressure put on this guy getting paid all the money it would take to get him?

The Sabres were just rated as having the best prospect pool in the league (Scott Wheeler from the Athletic). They can afford to give up a prospect or two to make the team better. I think a player like Savard for that young group of D would be something they would want. Obviously wed have to add to that but could be a play
And their top 6 prospects are 5 forwards and 1 goalie...Habs on the other hand are loaded with defense prospects. They technically make for perfect trade partners.

I have a gut feeling that Jake evans will be traded for a surprising decent return .
He is cheap , young and good penalty killer and I feel they been showcasing him quite a bit lately and talking him up.
This management unlike the previous fools , know how to increase the value of their assets

I personally don't see it happening. We're far too thin at center as is with Dach and Dvo out the rest of the season and Monahan traded.

unless a really good prospect or a #1 to package up
I like Savard but he’s slowing, 34 next year and more likely to get injured given the way he plays. He may be a no. 4 on this team but likely not on a contender.

You’re offered an interesting return, you gotta take it, no questions asked and use it to help the rebuild forward.

Even if it makes you tank another season? I'd be worried, the vets are more useful than their on-ice performances.

Getting rid of Anderson for instance, same issue. He's more than just the player on the ice for this team. So I had to give up on it. Probably same for Kent.

Let's be clear, Savard is only going for an overpay.

If the Leafs want him, at 50% retained, that will cost a first + Cowan, if not we keep him

Yep, this summer
Where's it all coming from? Habs hard up against cap to start this season.

Cap goes up 4.1 million.
Pearson done 3.25m
Alzner last year .9
Monahan traded 2.0m
Edmundton 1.75m.

How you get 15 million? It's only 12. Then you need to subtract increases to Montembeault and Xhekaj.

They have 7.25M available next year + the 10.5M of LTIR from Price's contract.

Cgy GM Conroy said that Flames were offered first round picks for Tanev but they preferred the Russian kid from the Stars org.
This is good news, and it makes sense.

We'll see if Hughes gets offered a 1st for Savard - and if he takes it.

Savard on his own will not make you tank next season.

He’s just one guy and is replaceable.

If the team tanks it’ll be on account of a combo of other factors, including too many remaining burdensome contracts, debilitating injuries, inability to secure good trade returns and/or inability to attract a key UFA.

Anderson is in a whole stratosphere until the cap goes up further and there are less remaining contract years. Until then, he’s not likely to go.

Good job by Canucks management. They should have asked him to negotiate a deal if he was going to stay so they could decide what they could add at the deadline. And if he didn't want to then start negotiating with other teams (as they did) to force his hand if he wanted to stay.

Lol at the thought of KK having value.

If he was a UFA then sure, but why mess with something when you are one of the best teams in the league trying to go on a run?
