What is the minimum value you would require to convince you to trade Savard this trade deadline?

I think for me it's literally just a 1st. Obviously a higher 1st, or a prospect on top is nice, but I think if you can get a first - pull the trigger this year rather than wait.

Has to be a first for me. We have so many second and third rounders that adding one more doesn’t move the needle. We need firsts to either package them for a higher pick or package them for an established star player. We need top end skill on this team the depth us currently good enough

Would love to sign Monahan and , even Perry over the summer. Let the prospects develop and surround these kids with vets we know they can play with and look up to

If we get Savard for a 1st. We take that 1st + our own 1st+ the Jets 1st + the Flames 1st for EP.

Ummmm hell no. Why not throw in Caulfield and slap. Might as well since you're going to throw the entire future away for 1 player
EP is the exact player we need. The cost may be high but it's well worth it. EP will change the Habs in a good way. All the draft picks will take time and there is no guarantee they will be good. EP is a superstar and it is exactly what we have been missing.

Do you have any idea what kind of players we could get for our own 1st and more than likely Calgary 1st? Sure he's a great player but not worth 4 Firsts

McCarron
Scherbak
Juulsen
Poehling

Just saying....

I wouldn't blink at sending our '25-'26-'27-'28 1sts for 8yrs of EP in his prime. That's easy.

It's so easy and I don't know why Habs fans hesitated. It's not often you see a guy like EP on the market.

EP can easily worth 4 1st.

The team psychologist diagnosed him with a severe case of agoraphobia. After playing in front of 3000 spectators in his rink, it's a shock to his system to see 21-22000 screaming lunatics at the Bell center..
Kidding aside, Zona GM must hate road games in Montreal & other hockey markets... As appealing as the golf is, any player actually motivated to compete must hate playing in that joke of a hockey market

I don't think that's very likely. Unless Hughes is extremely aggressive in changing the roster. We'll know more after the off-season. I think it's possible that they start to push in 2025-26 but I think the most likely scenario is that they start to push hard for 2026-27.

2026-2027 indeed seems like the most logical year for the Habs to open a contending window for the remainder of the decade.

With Allen, Armia, Dvorak off the books in 2025 and Price off the books in 2026, that’s no less than 22M available by then for impactful signings. (Slafkovski and Guhle will likely get substantial 8 years deal, but other young players are likely bridged like Dach and Newhook were.)

Anderson and Gallagher are also coming off the books after 2026-2027; that’s another 12M; they could (hopefully) be traded with retention before then since the Habs will recoup all their retention spots after 2024-2025 (Petry, Savard and Dvorak/Armia).

By the end of 2025-2026, Harris, Xhekaj, Barron and Struble will also all likely be waiver eligible, so a couple of them will be leveraged into trades to make room for Reinbacher/Hutson/Engtrom/Mailloux.

Finally, the Habs’ 2024 1st should start to have an impact and with 3 other 1st in 2024/2025, the Habs also have the ammunition to get another impactful player.

This guy solicited trade ideas for EP:

The users who chimed in with Habs packages had mostly players and assets drawn from this group:

Dach
Guhle
MON 2024 1st but lottery protected
WPG 2024 1st
MTL 2025 1st(Top 2 protected)
CGY 2025 1st
MTL 2026 2nd
Matheson
Reinbacher
Newhook
Mailloux
Xhekaj

There were also Suzuki and Caufield but doubt they’d be envisaged.

The name that had the most mentions is Dach — this is probably an indication that some fans are not confident that Dach can stay healthy. Ghule might be named by fans for the same reason.

Regardless of who and what is included, it’s pretty clear that it doesn’t hinge on the Habs having an intriguing combo of assets but on whether the Habs would be on Pettersson’s short list.

Yeah, i doubt that he'd be willing to sign long term with the Habs somehow.

I remember thinking a 1st for Chiarot was realistic before we moved him and every other fanbase thought it was crazy to think he'd return a 1st. When it comes to Savard though, I can't see him returning a 1st unless we retain or package a later pick with him.
