Who else got a feeling that Hughes will do SFA at TDL?
There is a big possibility and we can't really blame him. We have too many unmovable contracts, Anderson, Allen, Gallagher, Armia...

I don't think we move Savard so it might be a quiet week and a half here. I expect him to be real busy in the summer!!!

The big move was made and we got the return we wanted

Not sure he is anymore or at least this year, but both are very good defensively. A lot depends on what's asked of them from their coach.
i disagree i love Nick but hes not better offensively or defensively EP is simply on different tier if you make a poll among neutral fans you will see how easily Petterson takes it theres a reason hes sitting on a 11/12mill contract

KH must have decent calls on Savard.. I bet that is the only guy that moves, maybe
Cant see anyone wanting
Allen
Pearson
Armia

I think deadline day will be quiet for the habs

I know he isn't better offensively but so far this year, given their duties, I'd say he's playing a better defensive game. Both guys are solid

Yeah nobody's gonna want Allen so we'll have to unfortunately roll with 3 goalies if Colorado doesnt want him. I would chalk Allen's contract up as the first miscalculation in Kent's tenure, however to be fair he didn't know Monty was gonna be this good and probably wanted some experience around for him anyways. Still doesn't explain what his plan for Primeau was in that scenario though.

He'll definitely be moved in the summer but it's not great for Primeau's playing time for this season. Maybe Jake sits a bit more down the stretch? Not sure.

If we can trade Jake for a bag of chips, a coke and maybe an expired blockbuster gift card.....I'd do it :)

I think much like when Lindholm was traded, teams turned to Monahan, I think once Tanev is traded, teams will turn to Savard. Difference is that Savard is still under contract next year whereas Tanev is a pure rental. But I do think Tanev is target #1 for most teams and Savard is target #2, maybe #3.

I don’t see HuGo compromising on asking price for the likes of Allen, Savard & Matheson may just lead to neither being moved.

I do expect Pearson to be moved

Montreal is a much different market in terms of lifestyle and celebrity status. That might appeal to some people.
Petersson apparently has targeted NYR (BFF Zibenijad) and Red Wings - per Scott Laughlin on NHL radio

There is nothing he NEEDS to do. If a GM ponies up worthwhile assets he will make a trade.

People are gonna complain non-stop if it's a predictably quiet deadline. It seems to be implied that KH should trade somebody so they can be entertained and have something to talk about. That's not gonna happen.

The only expiring contract is Tanner Pearson and for sure he's worth nothing. Any other trade is either get an overpayment or wait until the off-season or next year.

It does seem like there's very little to be moved this deadline with a lot of potential buyers. That will drive the prices up and maybe our boy can capitalize, we'll see.

Teams are looking at Josh Anderson , I can tell you that. It is mentioned in internal discussions. I don't think any team will give a lot of money for his services at this point, though. The CH had a fixed price last season, but I assume that this price has fallen. » -David Pagnotta

I like Josh and feel like he's been really snakebitten this year, however, if there's a team that has an expiring contract of similar dollars that they will part with, I think we should consider it.

I think it's imperative for the Habs to work their way out of tank-dom beginning next year. Being bottom 5 three years in a row given the contracts to Suzuki and Caulfield is not ideal. It's fun to accumulate lottery picks in the abstract but in practice it probably sets up a losing culture.

And it's not going to be easy for the team to improve. They lost Monahan. They might be losing Savard.

We're also seeing a bit why other teams fail at rebuilding. Young players and prospects are uncertain. The Barron trade was good, but he's busting. Same with Mesar. Heinemen is injuring himself to bust-dom. This probably happens a lot leaguewide, and we probably have not seen the end of it with the Habs' rebuild.

I don't know if there are good players available on UFA or trade, or what they would cost. The team needs to improve next year but it's not obvious how to do that.

I don't see any of Reinbacher, Hutson, Barron, Mailloux, Beck, Farrell, Roy, Mesar, having a significant impact next year. Maybe the year after.

I fully expect Hutson will be signed after Frozen Four & unless he bombs his audition this season, IMO he’ll man the first PP starting season opener & be quite successful at it… not sure how his regular shifts on D will go though..

I'd like to see a couple of legitimate players brought into the lineup next year. Like you say, constant losing is not a good thing

After the deadline the roster limit is gone, so does 3 goalies really matter then?
