Yup. I'm sold. I'll even take a 4th. A 3rd would be great.

A 3rd round pick to get rid of Allen? You feel that' not enough?

There's no way Dallas is making that Chychrun trade. Lol What a ridiculous price for a mediocre player.

I'm ok with Allen trade if we got Anaheim's or SJS 3rd round pick or Boston's 2nd round pick (Ducks have Boston's 2nd & SJS 3rd. They also have Pens 3rd).

Offensively? For sure. Defensively? Suzuki has been significantly better defensively this season.

It is easy to justify Pettersson making 4 million more. Beyond buying up more UFA years, Pettersson is one of the best 5v5 point producers in the NHL and is even better on the PP. And scoring costs more.
Offensively yes, defensively not sure

Patterssion have finish 7th last year for the Selke, he’s a stud defensively

Agree. What jump in my eyes is the absence of a system. Outside the first line it's a desert. I dont watch much that team cuz I don't like what I see. First period usually are ok, followed by an atrocious second period when everything falls apart and they try to come back at 16 minutes of the third. But there is no system in that team. Other teams have a system and I enjoy watching them, a well oiled machine when each effort is worth.
They play man-to-man in their zone. Thus the reason you see them running around like headless chickens.

Is it time to trade Barron or do we wait another season? He has been average in Laval. Has expecting him to have the same impact as Arber with Laval Rockets...

I mean to be fair Selke votes don't matter after third place. They're usually from homer reporters voting their hometown guy first/second/third. Danault is leaps and bounds ahead of Petey defensively and got a single fourth place vote last year. Eric Staal got a second place vote, likely from someone confusing him for his brother. Noah Cates got 6 votes, likely all from Philadelphia. Even though it's tiered ranking, people typically only use their first and maybe second place votes on worthy candidates then it's just pure trolling and bias.

Matthews gets second/third place votes yearly despite being absolutely mid defensively. Toronto writers just so badly want to paint the narrative that all their players are Gods offensively and defensively. Marner was suddenly the best defensive player in hockey according to them last year, but they've swapped back to Matthews for Selke this year. Jay McClement went from fourth liner to 6th place Selke finish after signing in Toronto. I fully expect both Matthews and Marner to place ahead of Nick Suzuki who has far better defensive metrics this season. Toronto has far too many voters. For some reason Quebec voters are never homers, as we rarely have an unworthy guy given votes for no logical reason. Even when Patches finished 6th he led the entire league in +/- and was even +20 ahead of his linemates playing heavy PK time. He wasn't the best defensive player but he certainly had arguments for 4th/5th place votes.

Petey got votes on 8% of ballots, which is to me is a nothing percentage. It's such a "scorers who can play defense sometimes" award. Danault's best year, where he was pretty clearly outperforming everyone else defensively, got put on 13.8% of ballots and sixth place.

Since getting traded to Vancouver, JT Miller also gets Selke votes almost every year. He is not good defensively and never got a single vote before playing in Vancouver. Crosby is good, not great, defensively, and there was a concentrated effort to try and win him a Selke for 3-4 years. He has higher or equal (or one spot lower for a couple of them) finishes than Danault, Cirelli, Jordan Staal, Mikko Koivu, Hossa, Backlund, Plekanec, Zetterberg, and a bunch of other guys who were actually elite defensively.

I don't think Pettersson has any interest in Montreal if he wants to leave Vancouver. It smells like a player interested in playing in the US

That said, rumors around the 2017 draft and later were that Pettersson was the Rangers' target and they really wanted to move up for him. That means if he's available, you just know Gorton and Bobrov would be very interested in knowing his price and preferred destinations.

Anderson is not a physical forward anymore though.
He been most his career. But been playing with injury

Well at the time, it wouldn't have been enough for me either...so if he refused a late 1st for Josh Anderson last year, I get it.

Today, might be a different story
Hard to trade Anderson. He's rare. Scored 20 last year. A late first rarely makes it

Canucks are apparently frustrated that Petersson haven't give them any signs he wants to stay in Vancouver. This is Tavares all over again. Dude his going to bolt on July 1st without saying a word.

Canucks should just trade Petersson before the deadline for a butload.

He's still an RFA after this contract.
I could see a sign and trade happening this summer though if he isn't willing to sign long term with Vancouver.

Who else got a feeling that Hughes will do SFA at TDL?
To be fair there's not a lot he can do.
The only pieces that could return anything notable would be Matheson and maybe Savard.

I miss aligned his name on capfriendly, I thought he was UFA this year. Then this is PLD all over again and Brisson is involved again...what a (not) surprise.

I wouldn't wait for the summer to trade him, because if I was the Canucks I would trade him to a team out of the playoff (they would get better pieces that way).

There is nothing wrong telling a team you wants out/don't want signing long-term with them. Why some players just decide to play the silent game and act like nothing is happening is beyond me.

Pettersson is pretty much what this team needs. 25 year old, might be two-time 100 point player.

I am not even sure what it would take to get him.

Dach, 1st round pick 2024, Mailloux? Is that insane?

Pettersson if he would come here and sign long term is exactly what this team needs.I would certainly pay for this guy.Problem is if he doesn't want to play in Vancouver who has a very good team he won't come here for sure .

Montreal is a much different market in terms of lifestyle and celebrity status. That might appeal to some people.
