If he refused in the past, it doesn't mean he will refuse now.

We don't know what he was offered (of if).

Anderson isn't untouchable, but i don't think the Habs are going to pay a premium to give him away either.
He has 3 more years on his contract. They won't retain on him unless they are getting the equivalent of 2 1sts. They would probably take a cap dump back.

Which they aren't and what's the point of taking on another teams bad contract ?

So I don't think the issue is Hughes not wanting to trade him, I just think it's not an active market for him right now.

He's not hurting the Habs though, it's really a non-issue.

Teams are interested but no return. I Doubt Hughes will trade Anderson though. He refused in past,

At end Pagnotta says he thinks possible Savard back to Tampa. Then signs off. Kind of left us hanging.
If anyone offer a 1st round pick (or equivalent value in picks or young player) for Anderson not retained he's gone. Anyone who do not believe that has not been following the last 2 years. The reason he is still here is because the return is not worth it (2nd round pick and worse). KH has set his price and if the price is not matched he's not moving.

replace x with twitter like this:

Is this for real? Ottawa would trade Brady Tkachuck??

No. Why in hell would Ottawa moves BT.

Exactly. A 1st with no retention or 2 1st+ with retention and last season retention would have been for four years.

Who would ever give a 1st for Anderson?

Obviously the closer we get to the end of his contract the more open KH will be to retain and he could also lower his ask. But with 3 years remaining to his contract and retention spots being needed next year/summer for Savard, Dvorak and maybe Armia/Allen i don't see KH retaining on Anderson unless the return is like you said two 1st or something equivalent and it's not happening for sure. He'll get traded at some point but when there gonna be less years remaining to his contract when we will be able to retain and make his salary a 3rd line player salary. At 3 and less millions Anderson is interesting but at 5+ millions not so much.

Who would ever give a 1st for Anderson?

Last time i checked he's still in Montreal ;)

I can't see the Sens wanting to trade Tkachuk, but it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted out. Their team sucks ass and it'll be their 7th straight year missing the playoffs. Also, his brother wanted out of Canada to move to an American market.

For Ottawa's sake, he has a NMC which kicks in after next year, IF they had to trade him it'd make the most sense to do it before the NMC kicks in so they aren't limited with teams.

Real good. Anderson is worth what he was last year. But no one ever said what the offers were last year. Could be a 1st but the key is was retention required. What it does indicate is he is not being devalued because of how bad he has been this season.
At this point, as long as the deal as no retention, you do it. I liked the idea of Anderson on this team, but the reality is that he's not what we want him to be.

Eventually, the trades will come...
Winter is coming.. euh... trades are coming.

You definitely can just look at the last decade. Hill wasn't a number 1 before rising up. His contract is very reasonable, but if he asks for a core contract for the next one, he'll probably be traded. That's the dynamic. Goaltenders are no longer part of the cores. Only a minority subsists. Teams are playing better percentages with Dmen and forwards.

But I mean sure Hill wasn't this star goalie he suddenly became great at that point. We could say it took a huge amount of luck from the Knights. I'd rather if my goalie would do this all the time. lol

I seem to recall that Hughes specifically mentioned that he wouldn’t be against signing a player to a higher AAV than Suzuki depending on the circumstances.

With the cap rising over 90M before long and considering EP is 100 pts player, it would coherent for the Habs to offer the latter a +10M AAV on the FA market.

Adding EP and a top-5 pick this offseason would essentially complete the rebuild, especially if the Habs can engineer a trade for another impactful player with a package involving WPG’s 2024 1st, MTL’s 2025 2nd and a young D for instance.
If he said so, I’ll take your word on it. Seeing EP is sitting on 12M, I would think he may be holding out for more. At that price, I just can’t see him committing to that and risking cap issues in the next couple years. It’ll be interesting to see whatbHUGO does

I’d be surprised he wants out. He literally had it put in his big contract that he was to be named captain. Absolutely rediculous if you ask me as that should be the room and not a contract to determine that. That said, I’d be hard pressed to see him bail
