I can totally see us trading Savard at the deadline and they call up Mailloux for some NHL reps

Feels like either Savard or Kovasevic get moved for sure with the Guhle at RD stuff

Armia as well feels like he's actually gotten some value and I can totally see someone take a bite at the deadline, even a 4th or 3rd would be a total win honestly

A 7th for Pearson would be a miracle. At least it's money off the books at the end of the season either way

As of now Newhook is playing where he should not and will need to show more or it will be a loss. Had they not made the deal, this player was available that Montreal doesn't have that in their system.

Lol you mean Florian Xhekaj?
Yeah we actually got him in the 4th round same draft actually.

Aaron Ward a couple of weeks back mentioned the analytics company he works for has data showing Habs as being 3rd worst in the league in allowing D zone entires and how all 3G are playing well above expectations.

The zone entries make the Habs D look bad, because they are odd man rushes and have forced G to perform well above expectations - on a team w strong fwd back support the G would provide strong stabilization.

Citing Canes as prime example of a team that would significantly benefit from Allen acquisition
It's a freeway and has been for two seasons now.
Horrible gap control and when we do stand up we get burnt.

I honestly would give it, but since they insulted us saying we were extortionists... No, no retention, otherwise they have to take Barron back :sarcasm:
I would waive Allen if I had to. Just to recapture the 4 million caphit. Can use the money elsewhere

Kovasevic is the perfect cheap depth D. No way they trade him, my gut feeling it's Savard. Neither gets dealt because they are too valuable right now for what they bring. HuGo should try to work on cashing in on Pearson, Allen, Gallagher, Armia, Anderson, Dvo and magically unloading Price. I know it will require miracles, but HuGo has done it in the past. Guys that are not worth their salaries, period.

How is 31 + 37 OA a hefty price?

What’s the historical probability those two picks combined will even net an asset who plays as many actual NHL games as Newhook? Very very low
A second would have been enough. Adding that first was overpayment. We can agree to disagree, time will tell if the Avs got lucky with their picks.

That's not how it works. You'd get a million ish in relief but then you have to fill up that roster spot.
With what? They already have Monty and Primeau. 3 goalies? Most teams carry two.

Most teams carry 23 players.

Lol...yes and just recently former Nashville GM said he regrets trading for Subban.
==========

Turns out, David Poile, the man who made more trades than any general manager in NHL history, has some regret about what was arguably his biggest trade.

The trade heard around the NHL world on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, the one that sent Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber to the Montreal Canadiens straight-up for P.K. Subban, is the one that had Poile reflecting Thursday.

The former Predators general manager told 102.5-FM's Robby Stanley and Joe Rexrode on "Robby & Rexrode" that he wishes the swap of defensemen never happened.
Does he regret getting for Subban or regret trading away Weber? Year ago he also said that he knew he would have to trade Weber to day he sign the OS. That trade was pretty much a wash the biggest win was probably was getting rid of Weber contract.
