The goal is not for the Habs to make the playoffs. But we need to best Laval players to be in Laval. And I wouldn't give a draft pick for bottom players in a lost season. We'll need to pick something from the waivers. And I don't expect high quality. At least Phillips is a hard worker with some offense.

We need our NHL talent (Roy) to play in the NHL and i would rather we reward AHL vet like Gignac instead of burying them in the AHL at a fraction of their salary because of an AHL playoff run.

For the team culture, its way better than burying your player down and playing nowhere plugs in the NHL. In my humble opinion.

Good human resources management.

I think Marner could become available this summer. Pure speculation from me based on Treliving experience in CGY with Gaudreau/Tkachuk, their F contractual situation and their Ds and prospect pool.

Matthews and Nylander extension will kick in. TOR only have McCabe and Rielly as D under contract for next season.

Marner and Tavares will be in their final contract year.

I would honestly give our 1st(7OV right now) + Struble + WPG 1st for Marner with an extension.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Newhook - Dach - Marner

Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Savard

Top 2 lines and top 4 D for next year. Thats f***ing strong imo.

I don't know. If Laval misses playoffs by 2 points because their best players were in Montreal, I don't see how that benefits the team winning culture, instead of having them in a potentially long playoffs run in the AHL.

Matthew Phillips on waivers.

He's the kind of quality filler I would claim because of all our injuries. So we can allow one of Roy or Gignac to play in Laval for their playoff run. And he can't be more useless than Ylonen, right?
Am I the only one that really doesn't give a damn about the AHL or a Laval cup run? I'm a Habs fan and only care about the Habs. Most of the players of the Rocket will never play for the Habs so why care about them?? Maybe it's just me.

I don't think its that big of a deal if Laval misses playoff tbh.

Marner would cost an arm an a leg. What do you want to trade for him? The Leafs are in win now mode and don't want futures.

Our 2024 1st, Struble and WPG 1st would be my offer.

They would free up cap space. Could draft a stud D top 10 and have immediate help with Struble. They are icing William Lagesson and Simon Benoit right now.

I think Marner may become available because they won't trade him during the season before a playoff run and i doubt they want to lose him for nothing next summer. Will they extend him with Matthews and Nylander extension?

Well, ownership are lining their pockets with healthy attendance figures and would certainly want to add playoff revenue. Hopefully their greed is not overly seeping into hockey decisions.

Have you seen the price of beer at the Bell? Or ticket prices? Safe to say their greed is soaking hockey decisions to the point of drowning! lol

When I attended a Rocket game about 3 years ago, I didn’t find their prices to be outrageous. Of course, nothing compares to NHL level concessions gouging. Plus, it would be one thing if they only pumped up prices, most of what they offer is garbage.

This is a big piece that may have been on the market for the pens

This is a sign for Pens to go ALL-IN and be buyers!
THIS CORE ISN'T DONE YET!

I highly doubt they don’t resign Marner. It’s Tavares who’s at risk and would have to sign at a steep discount to stay in Toronto. His cash is what they’ll use to fill out their roster IMO.
