Getting ride of Allen and adding to our Center depth so Newhook can play on the wing and not having Evans on the 2nd line
I get the fallout but what has gone on with Johansen — is he salvageable?

I get that
but this will be year 3 now.

They didn't start the rebuild until this time 2 years ago. This will be the 3rd draft class upcoming of the rebuild. We've graduated one single player from the first draft class.

Got another 2 years minimum to go before we start looking competitive, just the way it goes. As the saying goes, can't rush good pizza.

this team sucks so bad with no scoring. yes Dach is out. but.......

Dach is out
Slafkovsky is still progressing
Newhook just got back
Hutson is coming
We'll have a top 10 pick
We have more assets that we ever had in the last 2 decades in order to get talent.

Just need a little bit more patience but something tells me, if injuries can take a break next year, it should be a different story.

I think Newhook and Roy are going to be quality middle 6 wingers on this team, but I don't really see anyone else in our pipeline that I am confident with. We are likely to draft someone this year to play second line wing, so we should be looking to trade assets to fill that last hole. I know people are going to laugh at me because I am a broken record, but I still want Kakko lol. I bet he will be affordable, and I think he is underrated.

As if this site is a major source of complaints.

In a fan forum such as this, there are positives with every negative, not everyone is out to act in a disingenuous manner. Criticism can be constructive and even warranted where founded — it’s more often than not an expression by fans really wanting their team to get better and likely disagreeing on how to get there.

What’s the real major source of complaints are the rabid media, bloggers and social media types who are fighting over market share in a city where the Habs outrageously dominate its sports landscape. Those complaints will often trickle down to sites such as this and quite often, posters will add links to sources.

Other than that, hyperbole can be entertaining, if we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Correct and that's more of the issue I was referring too...we as fans here don't have that much reach, but being a subscriber to many of the popular podcasts that are dedicated to the Habs.

The 3 goalie situation has been a constant them and seems to have ramped up in recent weeks, as though it's something that Hughes must sort now...he doesn't want to lose Primeau to waivers and Allen just doesn't have a market given his performance and contract situation. I don't anticipate this situation will change until the offseason.

Ideally, i'm sure they'd love to trade Allen...they're probably hoping a team loses a goalie to a long term injury, because right now, for any team looking to shore up it's goaltending, I don't think Allen is a clear upgrade.

Our best years during Bergevin's era was with Gainey's team. He inherited: Price, Subban, Markov, Plekanec, Eller, Desharnais, Gionta, Gill, Gorges. Basically the core of the team that at least went to Final Fours.

Once he started to build his team, it all went to crap. However, he did start recognizing the need to start drafting more, and did between 2018 and 2021, so he didn't leave the team without assets: Suzuki & Caufield his 2 big ones, but also Guhle, Xhekaj, Struble. He got lucky with Montembeault.
Didn't Gorton pick up Monty?

Losing Dach, so early, is another lost season for us, to actually find out our depth, and how good the top 2C's are while in the lineup together........had Dach played he would have eased the matchups for Suzuki, and who knows what kind of point total NS would have had.

I feel there is a chance they compete for a playoff spot in 2025-26 season. The Habs should have the defensive prospects figured out, some contacts off the books and a couple more prospects knocking on the door. Plus with the assets KH is likely to make a trade for a top 6 forward in the year or so.
