Well Slafkovsky is playing too well...Xhekaj drama didn't take.

Gotta complain about something.

You're right about the complain part, but signing Allen on a 3 years deal knowing you will have to bring Primeau in at some point, was a bad decision.

He should have offered him a 1 or 2 years deal not more, now Primeau wasted a complete season of devlopment.

Boring time to be a habs fan. Gotta create some drama.

Why is it drama, aren't we here to discuss hockey.

They didn't think Montembeault was anything - why would they? He was atrocious when we got him off waivers.

Montembeault developing into a cromulent tandem goalie wasn't in the cards, hence why they wanted Allen around to transition them during the rebuild.

Allen for Ryan Johansen as a base
That doesn't leave much cap space for the Avs to go get another center.

And i don't think KH will take back any player with a bad contract. He still has to fit in team culture.
I think the time to take bad contracts for assets is coming to an end after this season anyway.

But why, results aren't important it suppose to be about devlopment, dont get me wrong i personnaly dont think Primeau is the future but still, you better give a chance to a 24 years old goalie to devlopp than give a 34 years old a 3 years deal when you know you're going nowhere for the next 3-4 years.

If it doesn't work with Monty you can always find another experience goalie for cheap on a 1 year deal.

They all talk about how great Allen is in the room and how accepting he was in his role. They really didn't want their young defenseman having their mistakes end in the net.. now we can argue whether Allen is even capable of that at this point in his career.. but that was the thinking and how we got here.

It's certainly a mistake in retrospect but I think we can accept the reasoning why.

We can agree on that

I think the only way Habs can move Allen and get any kind of return is take a worse contract back. Philly maybe take Peterson back.
Exactly. Allen has a negative value right now, even with salary retention.

Teams that are looking right now are teams that are making a run for the playoffs. No one in their right mind will think they can win it all with Allen.

Primeau has zero experience as well, so his only value would be for a team poor in goalie prospects to pick him up and play him in the AHL for a while. And you usually pick those in the offseason, for practically nothing.

If Montreal want to bring Primeau's value up, they would put Allen down on waivers and give Primeau more games. Otherwise, this is all a moot discussion. Neither are tradable right now.

I can't see anyone taking Allen, he will be a hab.
I feel the KH and this 3 goalie deal is for the rest of this year, KH has to address it next year, as it is dumb

As if this site is a major source of complaints.

In a fan forum such as this, there are positives with every negative, not everyone is out to act in a disingenuous manner. Criticism can be constructive and even warranted where founded — it’s more often than not an expression by fans really wanting their team to get better and likely disagreeing on how to get there.

What’s the real major source of complaints are the rabid media, bloggers and social media types who are fighting over market share in a city where the Habs outrageously dominate its sports landscape. Those complaints will often trickle down to sites such as this and quite often, posters will add links to sources.

Other than that, hyperbole can be entertaining, if we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

The 3-goalie system is not helping raise the trading value of Allen, who has too few starts and is not sharp as a result. I wonder if it might incite Hughes to pivot and sell off Primeau instead? Who knows what their internal assessment is of his potential.

Realistically, even with a top-peak value, Allen isn't worth much. It seems the last thing teams want to spend assets on is a goalkeeper. So many teams need them, no one wants to pay for one.

Primeau is mediocre. Allen is on the decline. A three-goalie system isn't really stopping anyone right now. The habs aren't competing.

If Allen wasn't on the club tomorrow, what would actually change? Sam would get more starts? They wouldn't have anything to spend the cap on. Like nothing changes with the habs, other than Sam might steal games Allen would have lost.
