Zegras is only worth .70 cents on the dollar. Coming off a broken foot. Having a bad season after just signing a lucrative contract.

Zegras is worth what a teams that wants him will pay the most for him and that has to be congruent with what Anaheim wants.

The only way i am good with a Zegras trade is in a quantity trade;

Winnipeg 1st round pick + a 2nd round pick + Barron or Harris or Kovacevic + Anderson or Dvorak

No quality asset going the other way outside of the Winnipeg pick.
Indeed
1st, Strubble, Dvorak or Anderson... Add pens 2nd if it takes that, not much more.

If he does get moved elsewhere, will be interesting to see if it's at bigger return value than that. I doubt it, though I do think some team may offer a better fit in a similar youngish top 6 fwd or a higher end fwd winger prospect that Verbeek prefers for his team needs even if the value is a bit less than the package we'd offer

Armia sucks too much to he traded with a year left unless it's another shitty player coming back with similar term and cost. Seeing someone different would be worth it imo.

Pearson is terrible and even at 50% might not be worth much.

Savard at 50% is worth a lot, so it will be interesting to see if a team goes after him.

Allen isn't worth his contract and isn't worth retaining on. Only team that might make a deal for him are the Devils, but not sure they'd be interested, unless they've lost faith in Vanecek and it's a 1 for 1 with a little sweetener for the Habs, but don't see that.

Habs are likely to be quiet this deadline again. They don't have a whole lot worth while that they'd be willing to move.
I'd do Savard at 50% retained.

Then in the summer one of Armia or Allen, 50% retained.

Allen
Savard
Pearson
Armia

Those are the players I hope the Habs trade at the deadline
I'd swap Armia for Anderson... And add an asterisk to Savard (*only at a big return, 1st++).

I think Armia's been very good for us this year as a bottom 6 winger. He's been better than anyone we have on contract through next year, and I'm not sure that we'd find a UFA upgrade that will cost less (especially given the cap increase). Dumping Anderson would be a better net benefit imo

Anaheim won't be trading Zegras for cheap and I'm not keen on giving up one of our best prospects our our 1st for him. I think I'd prefer Laine if anything who should be way cheaper.

That's too much.
Struble is already a top 4 D. He's a keeper.

I like Stubble, but I don't know that I'd call him a "keeper".

We'll need to move some of our young D at some point, especially LD. Guhle is a lock, & Hutson is the most unique talent we have. Btw X & Strubble, I'd rather keep X & his unique abilities for now even if I think Strubble is slightly better right now.

Harris doesn't likely move the needle. I suppose Barron might work but I think he still has a higher ceiling than Strubble & conversely, Verbeek may value Strubble more...

If we can offer net "less" and close the deal, great! But you gotta give to get, that package is about as high as I'd be willing to go.

Not for us as habs fans but just as fans of the game. The Pens and Capitals are going nowhere but wouldnt it be cool if the Caps did Ovy a solid and sent him to go play with Sid for the last couple of years he has left. Go try and win a cup together and get that Goal record!
That would be pretty cool...

Real question. You think Tampa would consider swapping Sergachev for Matheson + Hutson (+?)

They get a current replacement and the future one down the road and they get cap space.

We get a better all around player that produces at Matheson’s pace and fits our window better.

I think they wouldn’t do it, but Serge’s injury is a big one, right at the beginning of a 8 year contract, so I think his value is down a bit.

Maybe I’m way off on value
Phew Sergachev is so overated and overpaid. Its because we had him we think of him as a goat.
Hedman was the real deal and he has fallen (normal) and now Sergachev cant carry the team

That's too much of a gamble. I wouldn't even do Matheson even up.

Sergechev coming off severe injury with massive contract. Matheson would bring us a first pick and good prospect.
