Well said.

Dubois is now almost as untradeable as Gallagher if that is even possible.

Imagine tying your career and legacy to a flawed player like Dubois.? Dumb always loses, and sometimes, it ends careers.
Now imagine actively wanting to trade for that player like so many posters here. lol.

Hughes dodged that bullet for a reason and didn’t get caught up in overpaying to acquire or to sign him like LA did. It’s their bedbug invested bed to sleep in and I wouldn’t want to trade for it.

What would it honestly take to get Zegras.
Is calgary 1st and winnipeg 1st + Harris enough to get the deal done?

Interesting answer by former teammate about Zegras being overated. Hes right saying numbers dont lie. I think Zegras can easily become a PPG player

We don't know if Hughes was interested but if he was he was likely only going to offer futures. Or he was only interested in Dubois as a FA.

Reports said he never even made an offer. Jets reportedly wanted Dach or Guhle as the main piece coming back and was a non starter for Hughes and wouldn’t even consider that trade.

That would suggest to me he wasn’t interested.

Zegras makes some sense but only if we can acquire semi-cheap without sacrificing any of our better prospects our any of our own 1st round picks (too valuable).

Something around Winnipeg & Calgary’s 1st rounders is a good starting point for me. Not enough? Fine. Don’t want Zegras then.

It's been reported by credible sources that they tried to get him in the summer of 2022.

If those reports are true, it's further proof that the Habs are in much better hands than with the previous regime. You just know that Bergevin would have made such a deal if he was still in Montreal.

I'd still take Dubois over Gallagher as at least with Dubois there would be hope he can regain his form.

No point in moving any of the few NHL players he had. Once Dubois opened up the bidding to 5 teams it was over. If Hughes was interested it would have been to get him without giving up any proven players - a futures deal. That is assuming he was ever really interested in acquiring Dubois especially at 8x8.

Not a good idea. Dubois has 4 more years on his contract than Gallagher and in a year or 2 Brendan can be bought out if necessary.

I am not opposed to get Zegras but he can neve play on a regular line with Caufield....

No Way!

PLD is the last guy I would want around a young team looking to learn how the be a pro. Gallagher is not nearly worth his contract when it comes to production but when it comes to showing the example of giving everything you have and being a warrior every night. He is worth every penny.

The Habs annual firesale is on. Armia, Allen, Pearson, Wideman, Gallagher...we got it all, at a discount too. And if you want top quality or better, Anderson, Dvorak and Savard are available too for a little extra. Can't reach the cap floor, no problem, Price won't let you down.

Aren't ducks rebulding themselves? Why would they want to trade Zegras? But if they want to I hear Dvorak is coming off the IR next season and Kent really felt generous there is Brandon Gallagher.

A ton of leadership, karakter and grit all in one package to teach your rebuilding team how to win.

I have more confidence that Dubois could return to form than Gallagher. Dubois has skill and talent,Gallagher got along with moxy more than actual talent. Dubois is bigger, stronger, faster just less motivated and less determined but a good sports therapist could help him,Gallagher needs a time machine.
