Aren't ducks rebulding themselves? Why would they want to trade Zegras? But if they want to I hear Dvorak is coming off the IR next season and Kent really felt generous there is Brandon Gallagher.

A ton of leadership, karakter and grit all in one package to teach your rebuilding team how to win.

They have Carlsson, McTavish and Gauthier as centres.l so they don’t need Zegras and can use him to shore up a positional weakness as he’s not a Verbeek type of player and the franchise and Zegras are at odds with each other. Imagine Zegras will be very motivated once he’s moved to another team.

He would fit in perfectly in OTT or BUF ... or even Toronto. I mean he has nice hair, right?

Zegras makes some sense but only if we can acquire semi-cheap without sacrificing any of our better prospects our any of our own 1st round picks (too valuable).

Something around Winnipeg & Calgary’s 1st rounders is a good starting point for me. Not enough? Fine. Don’t want Zegras then.

They already got 2 great center in the making with Gauthier and Carlsson, Lundestrom on wing, Mctavish used as a multi-tasks forward (center and winger) and 2 great LD with Zellweger. I think RD Mailloux, RW Mesar and 1st Wnnipeg are great pieces for a trade considering their needs.

At 33 y/o for two years, you are getting the tail end of Savard's prime. The prime of a RD with size that has won the cup. @ 50% the cap hit is $1.75 mil, which is incredible. That's a 1st and 2nd at minimum.

I doubt it. To get a first and second for Savard even at 50% requires a huge imbalance of supply and demand for savard's services.

2nd rounder is a more realistic starting point.

Well Bergevin is still in the league isn’t he? Nothing is impossible.

Savard presence worths more than a mid-late 2nd rd pick. It has nothing to do with a future UFA context that we could replace on July 1st. Its the only reliable defensive RD dman on the bank that he's signed for next year too. The RD free agency slot is pretty empty. Dealing Savard is also meaning possibly be out of the playoff next year, not having mentor for Mailloux and having great partner for an offensive minded Hutson (if he's made the team) somewhere during the season. In fact, a Savard traded make Hutson NHL presence a way more difficult.

... but I would consider Savard on the block for a 1st or a quality prospect.

Savard is not UFA at the end of the season. They don't have to trade him now.
The offer has to be worth it, otherwise they'll just keep him.

It will take a lot more than a 2nd to even consider trading him, especially at 50% retained.

What would it honestly take to get Zegras.
Is calgary 1st and winnipeg 1st + Harris enough to get the deal done?

Interesting answer by former teammate about Zegras being overated. Hes right saying numbers dont lie. I think Zegras can easily become a PPG player

Zegras has skill in spades. I think they should do their due diligence on him and if it checks out, get him. We need more talent on the club.

He is the kind of solid defensive D with a touch of offence that fetches first rounders if not expensive.

A club that gets him for two Cup runs at $1.75M should pay a first and second or equivalent for him.

No Way!

PLD is the last guy I would want around a young team looking to learn how the be a pro. Gallagher is not nearly worth his contract when it comes to production but when it comes to showing the example of giving everything you have and being a warrior every night. He is worth every penny.
pennies were discontinued

It really is a shame Kovacevic was bad this year. He started excellently but fell off a cliff. 750k for 2 playoff runs would have been valuable for a #5 dman. Now he's a #7 so nobody will care.
