His main fault is being a Montreal Canadiens. As soon as they sign with them, players lose their value.

Yeah, I'm going to call BS on that one.

Due to injuries he was awful for years in Calgary. Montreal even got a first to take him. He's long had a reputation on the boards for being bad.

Its more the injury history and no one intentionally watches bad teams unless they cheer for them.

I dont get why people are suggesting Dallas as a potential landing spot for Monahan. I dont see the need now. Also, Dallas is getting old and I really doubt they would trade potential replacement for Benn or Pavelski for a rental.

I think Dallas is a potential landing spot for Monahan given they are in win-now mode with older guys like Pavelski, Benn, Suter, Duchene, Dadonov and Seguin being over 30, however I agree it makes no sense for them to give up a guy like Bourque for a rental.

If anything, they might offer their first and a young like Ty Dellandrea who has been in and out of their lineup.

That was my point! He said he didn't want Stankoven cause he didn't want short players but I asked answered him why Bourque but not Stankoven? Is Bourque 6.02 220lbs?.. He made it seem like Bourque is twice the size but they're very similar with Stankoven being a year younger

During his post-trade press conference, Flames general manager Craig Conroy confirmed that there were more than five teams that were very interested in Lindholm, all of whom he qualified as “serious trade candidates”.

Dammit Kent! Enough is enough. Go Get me

Someone already said it but i wonder about McGroarty. I guess he’s not available but if the Jets is an option for Monahan he should be the target.

He’d be our best forward prospect (With Slaf in the NHL already)

Unfortunately, I think he's not available. Prospects that have a cold spell are the types that move for vets, like when we traded McDonagh for Gomez, or when Owen Tippett recently went for Giroux.

There is zero chance the Jets trade McGroarty for Monahan. Expect pick(s) or lower end prospects like how Heineman was with the Flames.

Monhan and Barron for McGruber and our 2nd.
Thats the deal that works.

No team will be trading an A prospect for a rental player...
Calgary didn't take the quantity package because they preferred that over quality. They took it because the quality package (acquiring Willander or Lekkerimaki) was not available.
It may end up like a Suzuki vs Glass decision - "thank you for holding back your 'best' prospect"!

For Montreal? Sure. For Winnipeg? Lets be serious here.
Considering the market price has gone up, the competition in their division has gone up, and they can reunite the Barron brothers, I think theres a chance. Will Winnipeg like the price? No. but they have a window of contention to deal with. Can we offer to sell to Dallas or Edmonton instead? Both within their division. Damn right we can.

And what's the excuse for Chiarot, Lehkonen and Toffoli? The habs' couldn't have gotten more than a 2nd rounder for all of them according to trade board.

FYI The Athletic surveyed current NHL players and the largest percentage of responses voted Zegras as "Most Overrated Player".
I couldnt care less about that survey. 146 poins in the nhl at 22 years old is anything but overrated. The same polls that keep saying Price was the best goalie in the league when is number were more than average. It reek jealousy of his skills IMO

And Caufield was in that list last season FYI. Do you consider him overrated too?

M Tkachuk and Robertson are on that list can we agree that list is BS

And if it means is price would be lower to acquire then its good news. But dont believe GM put too much stock in those so call polls

McGroarty apparently grew up as a Jets fan, not only is it unlikely the Jets trade him, he's probably not interested in being traded away either.

And the Habs are more likely to get a 1st + B prospect, than a A prospect + 2nd round picks for Monahan.

Chiarot's is because he (like most veteran physical shutdown D) are overrated among teams and undervalued on these boards. I think Toffoli was generally viewed as being worth a first +, the quibbles were about if teams were able to take him without retention (Montreal ended up taking Pitlick's contract back to make it work for Calgary).

Lehkonen was the strange one, but from what I remember it depended on the fanbase. I recall Avs (and Rangers fans, but he wasn't traded there) being particularly ignorant of both him as a player and what Sakic would do, but other fanbases were more reasonable.

It feels like part of the Monahan thing is the fanbases involved. Flames fans are (rightfully) salty that they spent years hoping Monahan would bounce back, saw him moved with a 1st and now see that he could get a 1st as a rental. Jets fans are probably pretty tired about all the Dubois discourse and are feeding it back to the more unreasonable Habs fans. It depends on the Avs fans, but a lot of the ones that didn't know anything about Lehkonen are also ignorant of what Monahan has done in Montreal.
