Exactly ! And it’s not by adding Harris or Kovacevic that this will change

At the end of the day Monahan is more a 3rd line center for a team that contend and he’s not a good defensive player. He produce 50 % of his points on the PP and he won’t play on the 1st PP on his next team so his production will regress and the other teams that want him or all aware of this

He’s a great prospect and would be our best offensive prospect and no teams will offer that kind of prospect for Monahan

Sorry you had to see this, wrote that out of spite and deleted it afterward, Bourque is having a great season for sure, I just don't see him being anything more than a mid-liner at best in the NHL, yeah he'd be our best offensive prospect, but that says more about our pool than anything else.

EDIT: I see that i missed the whole conversation regarding Bourque haha

Dallas probably doesn't need another centre, but I would love to get my hands on Mavrik Bourque.

I don't know if Monahan on his own or a package of Monahan and Savard for Bourque and a draft pick + cap dump could get it done.

They have a team that could go far in the playoffs, but some depth would be great.
Dallas is definately a team in needs of a guy like Savard.

And like i said before, every contender will be interested in Monahan.

Regardless of anyone's personal opinions on Ritchie or Monahan, the Avalanche don't give up big assets for short term rentals. Never mind short term rentals with injury issues, or on a team that already has a failed, slow moving, injury riddled centre on the team in Johansen. I don't think Ritchie is available at all, but definitely not for someone who's not going to be on the team for the next 4+ years.
Ritchie is not a big asset. And they might as well trade him unless they boot Bednar. Bednar won't use him.

my order of where Sean M goes

Peg
Dallas
EDM
Philly
NYR

Chevy needs to loosen the purse strings, time is now Chevy
I didn't realize Henrique has put up basically the s as me numbers as Monahan this year. I expect both to go for 1sts +

People are saying it’s a big price to pay, but I like that trade for the Canucks. They needed some offensive punch after those top 3 forwards.

Is one of the prospects a really good prospect?

I would have loved a package of Kuzmenko and a 1st for Monahan.

Hunter Brzustewics is a defenseman that has 69pts in 47 games in the OHL. That's good enough for 3rd overall in the OHL. 3rd round pick but still only 19 and has really made a jump in his development this year. Potential top 4, PP specialist.

If you redraft 2023, he goes first round in my opinion.

I am not a fan of trading with them since Chevy is always very stingy and seems to stick to his guns, don't think much can be extracted from Winnipeg with what the Habs have or want to offer.
Yep.

Dallas on the other hand are all in.

They don't won the Cup since 1999.

Add something good with Monahan and you could grab Bourque

Ritchie is the Avalanche's best forward prospect who is improving at a rate we haven't had from a CHL prospect in... ever, probably. If he pans out he's the sort of player and contract we'll need in the next ~5 years to remain competitive. I don't think you know anything about our coaching either. Over his time lots of young players have been given chances and flourished under Bednar, and as we've seen this year he continues to play the useless Ryan Johansen because he doesn't have any choice (Drouin and Tatar were healthy scratched, Johansen never has been).

I'd say given other prospects and relative players in the NHL already, Ritchie is probably more important to the organisation than Barron was when we traded him. Lehkonen in 2022 and beyond was much more valuable to us than Monahan would be now, so I really don't think you should expect him in a trade. If that means Monahan goes elsewhere, fair enough.

Are you sending our 1st round pick along with Monahan to make that happen? No chance Dallas touches that. And if I'm trading with Dallas, not that it's nay better for them but I'm going after Stankoven
I would be willing to add Xjakaj and the Flames first pick for Mavrik Bourque.

Monahan
Xjakaj
Flames first pick

Vs

Mavrik Bourque

With that offer..no way that Dallas would laugh to your face.

It is a serious offer.

Winnipeg has some interesting prospects, but I think Chevy will go bargain bin shopping at the deadline.
Then he will never win the cup... love the peg, really do. but he need to grow a set and go for it.
his team deserves it and so do the fans

I was responding about Stankoven

I'm all for trading for Bourque.
throw in a pick and sweeten the deal for Dallas

That make no sense. Rumor is that a team offers a prospect with 2nd line potential for Xhekaj. the price to go from such a player to Bourque is not 2x 1st pick (Monahan's potential return + flame pick).

There is nothing you can add to Monahan that make sense to get Bourque if you are doing a proper asset management. If you want the guy that badly, then what ever, but even in that context, this is waaayyyyyy too much

Maim boards are losing it lmao

How do you stop GMs from doing stupid shit?

I dont get why people are suggesting Dallas as a potential landing spot for Monahan. I dont see the need now. Also, Dallas is getting old and I really doubt they would trade potential replacement for Benn or Pavelski for a rental.

Imagine the collective orgasm in the province if we do up trading for Bourque and he goes gang busters with Roy in Laval from now till the end of the season.

Two talented young Quebecois forwards!
