Hughes mentioned that he’s willing to part with some of his 22 draft picks over the next two drafts. I really think the next deal he makes will be a multi-piece deal to try and land a potential big game scoring prospect for the 2nd line.

Maybe Monahan + veteran D + draft pick or prospect.

Tampa may be a target here since they need D and a 3rd C.

Is Howard any good?

Why would the Rangers trade away a roster player? They are trying to add one. Perreault/Othmann is crazy talk. 2nd+3rd is way more realistic but we might be able to convince them to make the 1st conditional where if they make the ECF the 2nd turns into a 1st.

Yeah, getting back a roster player is not realistic, unless that player is a cap dump.

But i don't agree about the return. You're talking about a very late 2nd here from a contender. That's almost a 3rd, so very low value. Not worth it, even if you add a late 3rd.
Maybe our early 2nd + another late 2nd from the Jets would make sense, but most contenders don't have an early 2nd. The closest thing is a late 1st.

With 32 teams now, late 1sts are not that valuable anymore.

NYR 3C is done for the season with concussion issues. Possibly a career ender..

NYR need a 3C but they also don't want to trade their future because 4 of their top 5 is over 30.

We don't need Kakko which we have plenty. Cuylie is interesting. Laffy is now out of range. I don't know enough about Perrault.

Drury wants his cake for free so I don't think there is a match there.

Anyone suggesting we trade for Laine needs a med change.

Thats how i see it.. unless Money wants to go to a contender (he may not want to anymore) i would not trade him for anything less than a high 1st + A prospect..

Otherwise, his value just playing with Slaf is worth more to us than some measely 2nd rndr.

I'd like to see him signed to a 4yr x $6aav in our offseason as he is a huge puzzle piece to our C depth woes.. sure he has the injury history, but we're not going to find a 2/3C better than him in our system (yet)... and quite frankly, next year we have to be eyeing a playoff WC spot.

Looking at the dead wood still in the team, the next 2 to 3 years wont be pretty...
In year and half, we will be only left with Gally and Anderson. Armia, Pearson, Dvorak, Evans, Savard and Petry retention will be gone. I even think we should be able to trade Anderson in 25 off-season, Gally will be hopefully on LTIR. No worries, it will be fine. Just four years to clear Bergevin chaos.

Since Erat for Forsberg deal 10-years ago, has another top prospect been dealt at deadline?

Can’t recall ..

It's mainly draft picks that go at TD these days, and secondary prospects like Barron. Colorado kept their top prospect their cup run year (Olofsson). Tampa's big trade with Nashville last TD was all picks.

At most we're getting a late 1st & secondary prospect. If we're trading with Winnipeg, it's probably 1st & Chaz Lucius.

Chaz Lucius is worth for his name alone.
