They could play Primeau at center. So lack of C's and a 3-goalie rotation....I mean..somebody needs to do something.

First round picks dealt at the 2023 deadline. This kind of comments puzzle me. 1st are thrown around at the deadline every year and the player returning is rarely an elite player.
Just because we aren't making the playoffs doesn't mean that we can run with 3 centers for the rest of the season.Lack of centres is not important this season. Not making the playoffs. They need to add one for next season for when Kirby Glass is done after 2 games again.
Monahan is a good 3C. I don't see him as a 2C especially come playoff time.I don't like Henrique myself but I sure some team will. He is a good 3rd line (40 pt) centre while Monahan and Lindholm are 1st and 2nd line level.
Agreed, however in case of an injury or concern for that team, he can sure step in and provide that for them ( playing on the 2nd line ) Not ideal, but could definitely do it!Monahan is a good 3C. I don't see him as a 2C especially come playoff time.
Why did you leave out Chiarot?First round picks dealt at the 2023 deadline.
Chychrun - still under team control, worst case top 4 d.
Hronek - under team control, worst case top 4 d.
1st for Gavirkov and Korpisalo
1st for Ekholm, team control, worst case top 4 d.
1st for Rasmus Sandin, d, team control.
1st (+) for Jake McCabe, 50% retained for 2 seasons I believe. Sam Lafferty.
1st for Jeannot. Ouch and obviously got more
1st and more for Timo Meier
1st for Orlov, Hathaway.
RoR for a 1st
1st for Tarasenko
1st for Horvat
Wasn't listed, but Bertuzzi got dealt for a 1st, too.
Most of the 1st traded were for d. The firsts for forwards that year were
Tarasenko
Horvat
Bertuzzi
Jeannot
Meier
Tarasenko - high end goal scorer who has proven to elevate his game in the playoffs.
Horvat - part of a sign and trade, was having a career year, too.
Bertuzzi - was having a bad year, got traded and matched his Detroit totals and surpassed them in fewer games. Brings grit, sandpaper and all that. Did well for them in the playoffs.
Jeannot - oof. Didn't have a good season, but did the year before. Still isn't. However, brings grit, toughness and he's probably top 5 best fighter in the league and can play a regular shift.
Meier - top player, team control and they were able to re-sign him.
Monahan - good on faceoffs and a smart player. Past 3 seasons were either cut short, disappointing, or both.
Has produced at a solid level for the playoffs, but isn't physical and the most aggressive thing I've seen him do is eat a piece of terribly burnt toast.
The often injured the past 3 years might worry teams.
Would absolutely love 1st, but won't count on it.
Only way I see it and as of today it might trend that way is that he and Lindholm are the best forwards available.
There isn't much available so far as center on the market so he might get a 1st if a team is desperate enough and I believe it's going to be the case.First round picks dealt at the 2023 deadline.

To the NHL he still had those injury problems. There isn't much available so far as center on the market so he might get a 1st if a team is desperate enough and I believe it's going to be the case.
Btw he didn't miss much games 3 years ago, only 6 games and the year after 12. I mean outside of last year, Barkov and McKinnon were missing more games then Sean Monahan in their respective careers.
Or his dad. They could play Primeau at center.
Just because we aren't making the playoffs doesn't mean that we can run with 3 centers for the rest of the season.
If you believe the main board, then I've got a shiny Seamus Casey to trade for your Lane HutsonFrank is lost and should be reading HF boards and especially the trade board. We will be lucky if Monahan returns a 4th round pick according those some dummies

You left out several other players that got a 1st from your list who I[d say were worth less than Monahan. Savard and Foligno come to mind, but I'm sure there are many more.First round picks dealt at the 2023 deadline.

All those guys have grit tho and can play a physical game. GMs love that.Look at players who returned a first rounder in recent years:

Monahan this year if he remains healthy is lightning in a bottle. Very few centers available who are capable of 50 points. Monahan can also play wings very well. Top faceoffs player. His contract is unusual for a player like him he should ne paid in the 4 millions range. Providing we retain a bit all teams can add him by just sending a minimum salary player down. His list was only for last year deadline only...and it actually shows that lots of players get traded for a 1st at the deadline.
The line between desperate and prudent is one injury. All those guys have grit tho and can play a physical game. GMs love that.
Monahan is made of glass. Even if he stays healthy he won't be dishing out any hits come playoff time.
I think he's definitely worth a 2nd. Realistically I can see a 2nd + decent prospect at worst. GMs will have to get desperate in order for us to fetch a 1st+
I do not see any major trade for Mtl at the deadline. The only potential trade I see is a minor one for one of the goalie. Monhan will not get traded unless there is a deal we can't refuse and none of the D will be traded this year. If there is a major move it will be during the summer.
Monahan for sure (if healthy) will be dealt. Maybe pearson if he can play well enough from now until march. But thats pretty much it. Summer will be better as more teams will be interested as every team has a clean slateI do not see any major trade for Mtl at the deadline. I doubt it's going to be a condition on playoffs games played, since nothing guarantee the team he is traded to, plays more than 4 of them...Monahan this year if he remains healthy is lightning in a bottle. Couple of teams looking for center. Lot of teams in cap hell who are nearing the end of a window who could be looking for a versatile forward. There will be lot of clients imo. As long as he is healthy i don't think there's any reality where he return less than conditional 1 st (conditional to the amount of games played in playoffs probably).
I'd happily bet you Monahan gets a 1st or 1st equivalent PLUS.First off, people need to read. I said 2023 trade deadline.
Secondly, Savard and Chiarot were also defenseman.
Foligno is the worst to receive a first. He was on pace for 30 points, but he also brought what the others brought and that's physicslity/toughness as things get ramped up.
Blake Coleman brought grit, very good pker, very dangerous shorthanded, had another year on his contract and was super cheaper.
He had 20 goals for New Jersey when he was traded while providing everything else I mentioned.
Copp returned a 1at, 2nd and Barron. Best comparison as he isn't really a gritty player like the others. Good on faceoffs and produced at the same, or a little more than Monahan. Copp then went on to be over a point per game for the Rangers in the regular season 14 in 20 games in the playoffs.
Today there's really Lindholm and Monahan for forwards that are probably available. Good chance he gers a first, but as the deadline draws closer more names will be added and the probability of Monahan being on the second tier is high.
Calgary alone could be drawing 3 of the 1st round picks with Lindholm, Hanifin and Tanev.
