What's gonna have the bigger impact on Monahan's value at the TDL is his salary. I mean, you can get a 50 pts forward for 0,95M$ (not even prorated). A team can literally get Monahan almost without impact on the salary cap, whoich enable them to go get another needed player.

He will garner more interest than Lindholm in my opinion and wouldn't be surprised if the return is almost the same because not every playoffs team can afford Lindholm, as opposed to Monahan.

As I've said a few days ago, a first rounder is probably the minimum for Monahan at this point. I see no scenario where we're getting anything less. Unless of course the team decides to give him a new contract, which we should not be ruling out.

Well considering his injuries over the last few years, I expect we might see some kind of conditional pick in that trade,....

It depends on the number of interested parties. There are enough teams that need centres, and few available, that HuGo should have the upper hand in negotiations. Like with Calgary I expect the only condition they will accept is what draft the 1st will be in. Unless there is a significant add on.

Monahan has 17 goals and 48 points in 71 games with us the last two years. The only way he doesn't return a 1st is if he's not healthy. I might be wrong but i highly doubt i am.

Tanner Jeannot, Rasmus Sandin, Jake McCabe/Sam Lafferty... last season, Monahan probably would've got us a 1st+ if not for his injury, and yeah, now he's healthy, he's producing despite our lineup, and his salary is a third of what it was last year.

Not that I expect anything, but I'll be a bit pissed if he doesn't bring back a 1st or a pretty good prospect/young player back.

IF traded, of course.

We'll see but it wouldn't be surprising either, teams giving up a 1st won't do it with some kind of certainty on their return considering he is an injury prone player. Having said that, the conditional can be negotiated to a minimum too.

Do you guys think Tbay will trade Stamkos at the TDL? If so, it will affect the the market big time.

There should be 3 centers available able to help in a top 6. Lindholm, Monahan and Henrique.

No. It's likely their last year since they'll be in cap hell +++ next season so they'll try to win one last time.

I hope we can sell Monahan high but he seems to miss every other practice so I guess he isn't 100% healthy and if I caught on that, I'm certain the gms in the league did too. I am pretty sure he'll get traded but I don't think a first is guaranteed. Playoffs are the roughest part of the season physically and that's for that period that a team would trade for him. I think they'll be weary given his history and I think we might receive a conditional first that is converted to a lower pick if he can't play enough.

I don't like Henrique myself but I sure some team will. He is a good 3rd line (40 pt) centre while Monahan and Lindholm are 1st and 2nd line level.

None of that will matter to some GM's if they think they are a contender, thin at centre, and he is the best one available, And if there are GM or GM's that believe they need to make the playoffs to keep their job they will likely do what it takes to get there. And then there are the teams where the owner gets involved in decisions (like Carolina) and they may want to take the risk.

The problem with Henrique is the cap hit. It's almost 6 millions. Even if Anaheim retains 50% there will be around 1.5 millions left in cap hit which should require most top teams to dump something. Monahan will only require to send a guy down to be added to all teams. It's not like Henrique has been the most healthy guy either he's been injured a lot. Henrique is also 33. One thing with Monahan is the team acquiring him will be able to take a good look at how he is physically and he should not be too hard to extend for 2 years. He could be a cheap option at center for next year if 100% healthy and being able to negotiate with him first could be valuable for some teams.

I hope you're right!

Ever since Monahan started getting Suzukis blood transfused into him on 'therapy days' he seems to get hurt a lot less.

Thanks for that. I looked at Henrique on hockeydb. Never thought to look at his contract though. And he was pretty healthy with NJ but he has missed a lot of games in the last 3-4 years. Could be breaking down as he gets to his mid 30's.
