I see Vancouver as a fairly solid landing spot for Monahan. They’re looking to upgrade their Center depth, they have limited cap space, and Rutherford has basically said they’re going hunting, which leaves them with limited options unless a contract is coming back to Montreal.

Maybe something like -

To Vancouver: Sean Monahan, Jonathan Kovacevic

To Montreal: Vancouver 1st round pick 2024, Danila Klimovich.
Hard pass

Nothing burger prospect and what should be very low pick. Better offers will be made for Monahan alone.

Not sure about that, you may be right.

Im just spitballing but I see Vancouver as a likely destination. Adding another first and a 6’2, 205 lb, 21 year old player with a cannon shot, that’s been playing in the AHL since he was 18, isn’t a bad haul for a guy who was picked up off waivers (and is clearly out of favour with MSL) and a guy whose team paid a 1st to not have him play for them anymore.

I like him too but Xhekaj could be a case of sell high a good GM could have the guts to exploit. I like the kid but Struble is very good too and we have Guhle, Reinbacher, Hutson, Mailloux. ...

Xhekaj is the type of player that makes GM drool all over the place. He's the type of player GMs often grossly overpay for. I think KH should probably at least listen to the offers see what kind of young forward he could get for him.
No.

A young player/prospect over a first for me. Get creative plz. We cant wait 5 years for a late 1st to pan out.
We could package that 1st to get a nice not-too-old top-6 forward at the draft though.

I agree we shouldn't wait 5 years for this pick to maybe pan out. But Hughes has dealt 1sts before.

Hughes managed to move a late 1st for a young roster player last draft. And a mid-1st pick the draft before. He knows how to use them when he have the ammunitions.
Which is why it makes no sense to acquire a first. Get the prospect right away. He decided to spend assets to prime from 2024, he has to keep going.

Id look hard at Lekkerimaki, Nikishin, Morrow, Lambert, Lucius and of course Ritchie, who would be the crown jewel. à
I wonder if Nashville would want to add too, L'heureux, Tomasino, Kemmel could all be insane gets.

I want good prospect, these end of round #1 picks are high 2nd
get a good prospect for Sean M and a 3rd... dome
Agree with respect to the 2024 draft. I believe 2025 is supposed to be a deep draft so a bottom 10 first might be a better player than in most drafts.

You like Tomasino. He had great numbers in junior but hasn't done much in the NHL. I took him in my pool because in his draft year ( I believe) he had something like 80 pts and was behind vet CHLers and had zero PP time.

Hes 22 and he doesn't play PP1. He's on pace for roughly 40 points while playing bottom 6. Not bad at all. Of course, not my first choice but if they helped it with a 2nd rounder and some, Id be happy.

I'm pretty sure itnwas just a typo, but going to the main board couldn't you maimed.

I'd be surprised if the Habs get a 1st, but pretty damn happy if they do.
Actually, not a typo. I’ve see it called “Maim Board” over several years now. Just benign hyperbole.

Kent is holding out for the Shawi boys.

Source? I made it up :teach2:

Bourque has been healthier in his 2 AHL seasons than his entire QMJHL career.

Agreed. Hynes misused him. Hopefully he gets a chance with the new coach. I would offer more for Kemell. L'Heureux I like more for his unpredictability and his willingness to go after opponents (cheap shots) along with being able to play unlike plugs like Reaves. He would give the opponent another player to be wary of. And hopefully they could get him to reduce the penaties when the Habs are a contender.

Depends. Vanek returned more weeks before the deadline than he returned at the deadline.

NYI paid Moulson, 1st round pick (#21) and 2nd round pick (#51) for Vanek on October 27.
Mtl paid 2nd round pick (#57) and Collberg (drafted at #33) for Vanek and a 5th round pick (#125) on March 5.
The Vanek situation is pretty specific, I can’t see how you can apply to any other…

In recent weeks, several Montreal Canadiens players have been mentioned in various trade rumors, suggesting that Kent Hughes could part ways with certain veterans such as Jake Allen , Sean Monahan and David Savard .

Although Sean Monahan and David Savard currently occupy key roles in Martin St-Louis' roster, they do not seem to align with the organization's rebuilding vision, which aims to rejuvenate the Montreal squad. Additionally, they are attracting significant interest in the transactions market, providing Kent Hughes with the opportunity to acquire leading assets for the future.

According to information recently reported by Rob Ellis, a major transaction involving five elements is being discussed between CH general manager, Kent Hughes, and his counterpart at the Oilers, Ken Holland. The offer reportedly includes prospect Xavier Bourgault , defenseman Cody Ceci , as well as a second-round pick.

“According to what is circulating, David Savard could exchange his Canadiens jersey for a jersey bearing the Oilers emblem.

The Edmonton Oilers would offer Cody Ceci , prospect Xavier Bourgault and a 2024 second round pick. In return, the Montreal Canadiens would part with David Savard and a 2026 fifth round pick.

This transaction would be beneficial for both teams, which align with their current goals and future aspirations. » -Rob Ellis

So Savard for Bourgault, Ceci and a 2nd. Hmmmm. Bourgault has kind of disappeared but he's young enough to possibly get a jump start. Ceci is decent and would only have 1 year left on his deal. Right handed always helps.

I could see this happening
