Not sure about that, the three goalie thing has a lot more to do with losing Primeau than anything else.

It's part of it.. Monty wants to stay in Montreal, but Montreal is weary of small sample sizes and paying goalies based on spotty track records.

If they can't find a move for Allen, they may sell Monty as a rental.

Let's get completely nuts:

Monahan
Montembault
Harris

for
1st round pick
2nd round pick
Holloway
Bourgeault
Ceci (cap dump)

Pay up dumb oilers.

It would be a big risk for the Oilers to go with Montembault...

And how good are Holloway and Bourgault. They made names for themselves at lower levels, but will it translate to the NHL? I'm only giving up Monahan for young playes I believe in...

But if Monteambault is asking for too much money and/or term, he is the one who should be moved. We don't want to be locked into a bad contract and we can roll with Allen and Primeau until we find the goalie of the future.

Would take the risk in keeping Monahan till the trade deadline. If hes healthy, with the type of production hes showing, we could trade him for a first and a better prospect than those two

No team in their right mind will take on Huberdeau contract
Only team that might make sense according to their internal logic would be the Pens, like they went for EK.

I would consider this an horrible move, but they're the emblematic team of going all in and whatever happens happens afterwards.

It would be so nice for us to target Will Cuylle in a Monahan trade! Rangers are thin in center line, and deep on the wings and they are win now. Cuylle could replace Anderson while being potentially better and than trade Anderson.

I'm down trading Monahan for this package. Decent assets picked up + it improves our lottery odds and hopefully means one less competitor by preventing Oilers to keep s*cking.

Gallagher, Anderson, 1st CGY for Huberdeau and Wolf

Allen (50%) for Bourgeault 2nd Foegle/McLeod

No way we're letting go of CGY's 1st, it's already tracking like a lottery pick. And if we ever dangle it, it won't for a horrible contract.

No. There is 0 good about having Huberdeau eating near 11m of our cap when he's a broken down husk of a man just as we are trying to compete.

Not to mention we are giving up the best asset in the deal.
you dont like 2 times best ahl players in a row Dustin Wolf?

The pick is in 2025 since the rule is that to be in 2024, Calgary pick needs to be between 20-32. So no chance it is involved this year.

Not at the price of taking on the worst valued contract in the league for the next decade.
We give bad contracts too. Anderson and Gallagher are not good value contrat. And 2 for 1, it take a spot for a kid in the lineup.

I think Buffalo should go for a goalie as well, Levi belong in the AHL right now and Comrie is injured and he's not a reliable backup.

They should go for Allen for a 2nd round pick.

It’s worse then Gallagher’s contract and twice as long. And the cap hit is so high that it would completely cripple us when we’re in what should be our competing window. There’s no GM in the league that would go near Huberdeau’s contract. It’s about as bad as it gets in the cap era.

Why would they care about losing Primeau to waivers if they had what they deemed to be a true #1 in Monty? And that’s assuming Primeau even gets claimed at the beginning of the season, I’m not sure that he would have been.

I know, my point was I don't see CGY turning it around next year when they're already off to a bottom 3 start this year.
The more optimistic scenarios at the time of the trade had them imploding next summer, they're already well ahead of schedule and have to resign their 1C and 2/3 of their D corps.
No way they'll be a much better team next year, I assume they'll have to start rebuilding and selling as soon as this year's deadline.

Legit. For me Wolf is appealing. Huberdeau is managable. He is a ppg player for the next 4 years. After hes going to be a nightmarish topic.

Anderson and Gallagher had 32pts/69g 14pts/37g last year Thats less than Huberdeau horrible 55 points season.

Unless we give Huberdeau money to Nylander. There are not much possibility on the market. (which we wont have because we are stuck with bad contracts)

a pick next year is ready in 5-6 years.

Doesn't matter when it's ready, point is it has extremely high odds of being a vastly more valuable asset than frickin Wolf along with one of the absolutely worst contracts in the NHL atm in terms of duration/cap hit.

Moving on.
