They would if he still had years on his contract but for a playoff run as a rental i don't think they would be too worried.

I doubt the Habs will get an unconditional 1st, but a 1st conditional on Monahan staying healthy for the playoffs could definitely be possible.

I doubt we will trade Monahan, he's a great player, fits very well with the team, and isn't old.

With our need for a RW, I wonder what price would be to dump Armia on SJ and acquire Duclair. I think he'd be a good fit on top 6. We are running out of options for that top spot. Duclair can be a good stop gap and maybe even get flipped at deadline if need be.

The problem is far more than just bad goaltending. McDavid must still be hurt or he’s just checked out completely.

And the players might give up when they know the teams goaltending is so bad they have no chance to contend. Especially if they are also sure that Holland is to incompetent to find a goaltender.

They had, like, 20 shots on goal in the first period. They looked ready to play, so probably not the coach's fault.
Goaltending is just horrible.
They have to do something before it's too late.

They really need a guy like Allen. Not many other options out there at the moment.
The problem is making it work cap wise.

Pearson 3.25M$ cap hit but 1.5M$ of bonus is payed actual salary 2.75M$.

If he keeps playing this way, then it is a very favourable caphit and actual salary. He will definitely have value if he is wanting to move on and get a quicker go at the cup. But who knows what he and his family prioritize… maybe he’ll want to stick around and be part of the veteran culture here. Good problem to have!

They can't play Skinner every game.
And they could use Allen's veteran leadership and calming presence.

Jake Allen is not the solution for EDM. They need a #1 not an other #2 that is not really better than what they have. Look at the numbers, Allen is not better then those guys in the past seasons

Huberdeau is terrible and he has the worst contract of the league. He is signed age 31-38 (windows of maximum regression) at an absurd AAV.

Getting him would scrap our team.

Even if for Gally and with their 3 best prospects.

If Calgary wants to trade Huberdeau they'll probably need to retain.

But realistically, I don't see a way out for them. They're going to tank hard, for several years, with Huberdeau.
