Primeau? Little to nothing.

Allen? Maybe a 2nd round pick at best. Just need the right level of desperation, but in all likelihood you'd be getting a lot more back for Allen cause if you are Edmonton, you have to offload Campbell's contract.. which means you are paying for the goalie and giving a lot to get out from under that.

honestly... i'm not sure that it's that easy to predict. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when it comes to in-season goalie additions, i could just as easily see a team more inclined to balk at giving up assets while taking on Allen's cap hit then to roll the dice on Primeau being ready to step into his own given the opportunity.

will be very interesting to see how these cards fall.

at this stage, I think trading Monty is the best bet to get the highest return (betting he'd be viewed similarly to Allen but without the cap hit/extra year to diminish the return), and we must be getting close to the point where he's not viewed as a long-term extension candidate.

That's probably the route i'd go at this point... leaves us with Allen/Primeau for this year and next, buying Hughes time be patient exploring that search for a robust 1A.

Going off the one game we saw of Primeau this season, he doesn’t look like he’s improved at all and I don’t know why anyone would want him. He’s 24 now and giving up goals that no NHL goalie should. He’s the Montreal Canadiens version of Justin Pogge. Our current goalie situation is giving the team a little more time then normal to see what they have but I would think they’re losing hope at this point.

If KH can get a 1st round pick back for Dvorak before the deadline of his last year i'll be impressed. Atm with his contract he's worth maybe two 2nd round picks but i'd say probably more a 2nd and a 3rd something along those line. He's a nothing burger 3rd line center Lars Eller was better.

Trade Dvorak for The Cult of Lars. :sarcasm:

With the news about Backstrom today, I wonder what direction the Caps will take...

A full rebuild/retool makes the most sense, but the allure of keeping Ovie in the hopes he breaks the goal scoring record may be just too big...

Could Hughes pry a 1st from them for Dvorak?

They should rebuild and keep Ovy as a vet presence. He will likely do as good offensively playing with kids having no pressure to win or play defensively than playing with over the hill vets trying to win. The race to beat Gretzky will be a good distraction and will remove pression from the kids. It will be the focus of attention. But they'll probably try to win ....

That pick will probably be top 10. I would be very surprised if they trade it.

After the Pinto thing with Ottawa, this is another missed opportunity for Montreal to use their cap space.
Wash can now just keep Mantha if they want and put Backstrom on LTIR when Edmundson and Pacioretty return.
Very convenient for them.

Staios is interim GM, he will make some moves, at least Tarasenko at the deadline if they don't make the playoffs.
Staios is President of Hockey operations for the Sens, he's going to do the daily GM stuff until he finds a replacement for Dorion. And Sens should have found a GM before the deadline.
