He has 2 years on his deal (including this one). Long time before then. I doubt the outlook of the habs roster in 2 years will be what drives him here. He'll go to the highest bidder if not the Oilers.
Don’t think it’s that long and it should be when the Habs look at being more competitive. Habs will and should match any offer.

No, on Capfriendly it looks the only Habs players on LTIR are Price and Dvorak.

Savard/Dach/Guhle are on IR for now.

Not sure if it is worth it to put them on LTIR, they still have 8,7 millions of capspace.
Dach can be added to LTIR if needed. Wideman will add cap space if we waive him after he is cleared to play.

Lindstrom has looked like a much better 7/8D than Wideman.

It will be interesting to see if we try to keep Lindstrom for that role beyond this year.

Hughes will be in a position to be the highest bidder.

Its going to be an hugly contract that only big time contenders should contemplate if he's their only missing piece. You really want to be on the hook for the contract that will run him from 30-37 years old at 14M cap hit ?

True, but it does not matter to the point. Either Wideman becomes part of the 23 man roster, or he is waived. Either way, we gain his space. So we might as well look at it like both Wideman and Dach are on LTIR.

But not Savard, since he is coming back and will have a roster spot.

Big Time contenders won't be in the bidding for a 14M contract. That said, I donMt know if a7-yr deal with the devil would be worth it at 14M? How about three years at 18M? Draisaitl will find a taker at 33...

Yes, I was making a different point...

I like the young guys to play, whether in Laval or Montreal. I feel like Lindstrom would be good for the 7D role, as pez is good for the 13/14th forward role. If we get healthy, I hope there is a trade to make room for Barron to be permanently in the top 6.

Contenders won't be able to bid on Draisatl.

Wideman seems to be pulling a Byron...

I agree. If there is a regular pressbox guy, it should be Lindstom or Wideman..

When Savard comes back months from now, he does not have to play every night. It's ok if we rotate 5 guys off one night each when everyone is healthy and only Matheson and Guhle play every day.

Most teams don't have their 7 top D all healthy at the same time anyway, and we are no exception.
