The team has over 8,7 millions of capspace right now with Price on the in season LTIR.

Unlike "normal" free cap space, the amount of space won't increase going into the trade deadline since it is related to LTIR, so it makes no sense not using it early/right now to take bad 1 year contracts from other teams.

Mantha + 2nd + 3rd for future considerations? More?

Does that include Dach on LTIR?

I like Xhekaj but it may make sense to trade from positional strength, a D for C. Mercer is barely 22 and averages over 20 goals per season already? If he is available due to a 6 game scoring slump, jump on it.
I doubt they are looking to move him unless it is an overpay, and I doubt they care too much about his 6 game slump.

He is a great center, with 30 goal 40 assist potential, he could end up better than Dach or Suzuki. He is just stuck on the 3rd line for the forseable future with Hughes and Hischier at center long term.

The Devils also need good young LD, and to add physicality. Xhekaj or Guhle could be nice for them, but would likely require another big + from us

I play NHL 23 and one thing I always do is acquire Colton Dach and Ryan Suzuki.
So much fun having multiple brother lines.
Makes me wonder if we could ever pry Ryan Suzuki away from Carolina. Carolina GM didn't like Bergevin maybe Hughes can make it work? Norlinder and a 2nd for Suzuki? (One can dream)
We should trade once he past waivers next season, but Norlinder and a 2nd seem extremely expensive… Is he really still a legit top 6 NHL prospect?

f*** Morgan Frost.

Go get Kent Johnson. CBJ isn't even playing him.
The only problem that i see, CBJ doesn’t need help on the backend and that’s the main thing we have to offer… Unless they’re ready to let Johnson go for draft picks(maybe calgary first??)

Frost is good. He was close to 50 pts last season. And Torts is a moron. No way to know if Johnson is good or if the reason for not dressing him is legitimate.
And the Flyers are run by incompetents and old fools. Good chance they could get Frost.

Why though? I don't see why he would cost that much. He's also currently injured and plays for a deep NHL team that doesn't have an AHL affiliate. Plus its hard to imagine him every being good enough to play on a line with Nick.

Maybe something like Norlinder + a 6th or 7th, but you can get a much better piece for a 2nd.

Suzuki missed a lot of time. I believe he has something wrong with an eye. No interest at all unless he is free.

Sadly, He won't sign with us. He already made his money and probably want to win the Stanley cup one last time. If we end up signing him. It would be to trade back at 50% immediately to a elite team.
If he wants to win a Cup and one of the obvious contenders doesn't make an offer he could sign with the Habs (with a clause that he can veto any trade). He then shows that he is healthy and gets a chance to see who the Cup contenders are, and gives a list of acceptable destinations to HuGo.

Yeah I agree it was meant to just start a conversation based on pure NHL23 conjecture ;). Would be nice to see if Ryan could level up to his potential ceiling playing on the same team as his brother afterall he's only 22.

No, on Capfriendly it looks the only Habs players on LTIR are Price and Dvorak.

Savard/Dach/Guhle are on IR for now.

Not sure if it is worth it to put them on LTIR, they still have 8,7 millions of capspace.
Guhle never went on IR. Wideman however is on IR.

Here’s hoping the Oilers keep sucking so Draisaitl doesn’t resign. Imagine him with Suzuki and CC.
He has 2 years on his deal (including this one). Long time before then. I doubt the outlook of the habs roster in 2 years will be what drives him here. He'll go to the highest bidder if not the Oilers.
