HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #85 - Offseason Editon

I would sign Puljuvarvi coming back from double hip sergury, it work wonder for Monahan Flames fan were saying he was done, Puljuvarvi had hip issues starting at the end of is draft season. KH and MSL love project and he is the biggest project. He his a bust but he still has a good 200ft game and is probably still a more skilled than most 4th liner.

I wouldn’t touch Huberdeau contract with a 10foot pool he is 30 and have 7 years after this years, even if he bounces back in 3-4 years it will awful… they would need to add 7x 1st rd pick for me to even consider it…
If the contract going the other way it better be Gallagher, Calgary still save Cap and terms.

I wonder whether GM's league wide prefer Engstrom to Barron. Or if a package of both Is intriguing to GM's.

Both are expendable imo, since we have Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, Mailloux, and Reinbacher ahead of them, plus Kovacevic, Harris, Steuble, Trudeau, Norlonder, and Bogdan.

When Dvo comes back we'll already be at 14 F's. So two will be in the pressbox, assuming we waive a goalie. If we don't waive a goalie we'll have to waive a forward. If we sign Puljujarvi, we'll have to waive an additional forward.

Who are you waiving to make room for him?
 
Jake Allen and Jeremy Swayman make around the same money....Montreal trades Farrell Harris and Fowler it gives Boston a young future goalie...Montreal gets their #1 goalie right now.

Huberdeau has an awful contract until age 38. He projects for about 25g and is a playmaker. They would need to retain 20% for us to consider it.

I wouldn't do trade even if Gallagher going other way. Huberdeau contract will kill us during our contending years

He was bad with good hips, getting them fixed won't make him a smarter hockey player. He can go to Europe and carve out a decent career

I appreciate the respect thing. But all nhl players know gally is done. He must be dealt with soon.

Clayton Keller carries himself with a lot of silky confidence. I would give up a lot to acquire him.

But… I’m not sure he’s the right target — we have so many holes it probably wouldn’t be feasible to improve the rest of the team in time to make it worth the acquisition, and yet… you will improve the team so much with this guy who knows how much of an effect it’ll have on the rest of the roster, but… McJesus and Drai haven’t been able to make up for the Oilers’ deficiencies, so caution is necessary.

I’ve talked myself out of pushing to acquire Keller. But, then, who should we target?

I can’t see Gallagher being traded. It would take too much to trade him and, in my opinion, there is no point for the Habs to give up future assets during a rebuild. I think the three options are he plays out the rest of his contract with the Habs (with some of it on the 4th line or in the press box), goes on LTIR at some point, or the Habs use a buy out on his contract.

The Coyotes have zero reason to trade Keller and if he was available, there'd be zero reason to not try and acquire him.

No, I should just write in more precise sentences.

@ReHabs asked whom the Habs' should acquire if not Keller. I think Hughes should target whichever forward is the best forward available next off season. I don't know who that will be.

The Habs first rounder, likely in the 5-10 range, will not be sufficient for the acquisition, but it will be sufficient as down payment and to start the conversation.

Exactly the idiot Hughes gave Allen a contract extension for no reason.

Montreal cannot waste the next 6-7 years of Suzuki and Caufield and not even try to make the playoffs and you have to have a goalie for that.....Montreal has built their franchise on goaltending 29 vezina trophies prove that....go get a bloody #1 goalie.

Swayman isn’t a #1 is the point. I don’t disagree about getting a real starter
