So you are saying none of the three has similar profile to Slaf (absolutely nothing in common except Connor's height), but you are still able to compare their PPG in D+2 and come with "suggestions". Amazing, thanks for your hard, yet useless, work!Let's be proactive: what do you expect to see from Slafkovsky in his D+2?
Clayton Keller D+2: 65 in 82gp... 0.79ppg
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who is significantly larger than Keller got 10 pts in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Trevor Zegras D+2: 13 in 24gp (21 in 17 in the AHL)... 0.54ppg (1.23ppg in the AHL)
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who is significantly larger than Zegras got 10 pts in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Kyle Connor D+2: 5 in 20gp (44 in 52 in the AHL) .... 0.25ppg (0.846ppg in the AHL)
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who isn't much taller but significantly heavier than Connor got 10 in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Their D+1 seasons were not spent getting head trauma in the NHL and accomplishing little else. They weren't rushed as badly as Slafkovsky was rushed in his rookie season. My criticism all of last season was clearly aimed at the Habs who have badly rushed yet another high draft pick.
But since you're so certain I will eat crow, why don't you propose what you think Slaf will get in his D+2/Sophomore season.
Can you inform us if players have to be exactly identical in order to be traded against each other? So you are saying none of the three has similar profile to Slaf (absolutely nothing in common except Connor's height), but you are still able to compare their PPG in D+2 and come with "suggestions". Price for Myers maybe, when season starts. Price be on LTIR then. Habs can retain half on Myers, flip him for a 3rd. Also clears them of Price caphit for next three years Saves team 12m in cash.
Canucks gain 6m of caproom. Equal to a first going by Monahan trade
Habs get a 3rd, clear of Price cap headache every summer, saves 12 million cash for 3 million caphit this season.
Canucks pressed for caproom this season. They have situation with Pettersson. Full court press to make playoffs now. Open doors for Habs. You might want to get a bit more familiar with the Nucks cap/roster situation. Some very obvious reasons they would not touch CPs contract with a ten foot pole.
LTIR in-season doesn't preclude the offseason challenges of carrying that big contract for a team willing to spend to the cap and trying to build a playoff roster

Lias Andersson was less damaged good when LA got him for a 2nd. It seems like an overpayment hereMTL : Harris + Farrell + 2nd 2025

I'm hoping the Habs can move out some more veteran contracts in the next year or two.
I also think Anderson (and probably Dvorak for that matter) will be gone next summer now that we're finally exiting the flat cap environment. I think a lot of GMs would still salivate over his profile and would love to add him, but under a flat cap it's just a really tough to get teams to bite on a 5.25M contract for a 20G/10A third liner who can't play on either special teams unit.in which case the only veteran contracts they'd consider potentially clearing off would be Gallagher, Anderson or Price's LTIR contract.
That not true. Canuck fans say Pettersson wants out if Canucks not competive. They need to improve this year. Dealing picks yes, but need caproom first. They say Pettersson will re-sign around 12million if team wins.EP needs a new contract starting next year that will be in the 10M+ range.
Hronek will need a raise, possibly a big one.
The short term value of Price's LTIR cap room this season is of little use unless they trade a boatload of future picks to land a quality roster addition... that either makes next summer even harder or they can't re-sign
Zero chance the nucks would be taking Price unless we were including blue chip prospects in the deal.
I take it Habs need 2-generations of 1st round busts to learn their lesson…MTL : Harris + Farrell + 2nd 2025

When the cap will be increasing by about that much money per year for the next 2 seasons, it's going to be much easier to find a couple teams that get eliminated from the playoffs early and go hunting for size and speed.

Kind of surprised Zegras not signed though.Zegras is more offensively gifted than Keller or Connor. He may not be the compete package though. I wouldn't trade Zegras in my points only keeper league but I would probably take Keller or Connor over him for the Canadiens.
We've seen Harris and Farrell, they are not new shiny toys anymore. But we have yet to get Turcotte, the shinier newer target. Doesn't matter that he cannot crack LA's roster, he must be worth a lot because he was a high draft pick. Let's throw a 2nd for good measure now that we can trade picks like we're Jim Benning. Sounds like a plan!MTL : Harris + Farrell + 2nd 2025

that is why Price said "even if" he was traded he is still a hab
Everything we've heard about Anderson is that HuGo don't actually want to trade him, which I tend to believe. I don't see him playing at a level which would generate a return that would be enough to change that mindset.
Dvorak (assuming he's healthy and produces around 0.5 p/gp, which is a tall ask) is a different story, since there's usually a bunch of teams looking for centers with some size who can win face-offs. And he doesn't seem like a guy HuGo are all that attached to.
I think that is more a function of wanting other teams to up their offers for him.
His name has been out there too much for a player they don't intend to trade
