Just trying to figure out what exactly Zegras, Connor and Keller did in their draft+1 years that was so much better than what Slaf did this past year.
We're talking about the present and going forward. What's better for the Suzuki-Caufield Habs core: an established player capable of PPG and more (Keller or Connor) or a player who's meant to hit his ceiling in 4 years (if everything goes well and he doesn't suffer any more catastrophic injuries)? What's a better kind of player to support the Suzuki-Caufield core: a high-end dangler with boatloads of puck skills confidence (Zegras) or a player who has major deficiencies in his understanding of the on-ice game and is considered a big-time project?
You go off on Habs fans in the Michkov thread to shut their mouths and be careful about eating crow. What's the difference there and here? Your subjective opinion that Michkov will be a stud and Slaf is a failure. For the record, I abstain from celebrating Michkov's slow start, because I still believe in him.
I think Habs fans like to trash other prospects who other Habs fans liked. Shane Wright was mocked and attacked and remains persona non grata in the Habs commentary space; now Matvei Michkov's (premature) demise is celebrated and Habs fans flood discussions about the prospect with half-baked sideswipes; some even attack Frank Nazar.
There is a reason why Habs and Leafs fans are considered awful and it is this obsessive and obnoxious culture that centres their teams in
every hockey discussion. Some of us are sick of it.
I'm glad you didn't celebrate the slow start of a prospect who has nothing to do with the Habs. You've passed a very, very low bar. I hope you can pat yourself on the back for me.
I still believe in Slaf too. There is no one on this site that I hope eats crow more than you.
I believe you. Good luck with all that. I don't want Slaf to bust out either, it would be devastating to the organization and undermine all of HuGoBo + the new development dork + Lecavalier + even a bit MSL.
Waiting for your justification for the hate and comparison of Zegras, Connor and Keller incoming. The never ending argument. God I can't wait for the season to begin.
Let's be proactive: what do you expect to see from Slafkovsky in his D+2?
Clayton Keller D+2: 65 in 82gp... 0.79ppg
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who is significantly larger than Keller got 10 pts in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Trevor Zegras D+2: 13 in 24gp (21 in 17 in the AHL)... 0.54ppg (1.23ppg in the AHL)
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who is significantly larger than Zegras got 10 pts in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Kyle Connor D+2: 5 in 20gp (44 in 52 in the AHL) .... 0.25ppg (0.846ppg in the AHL)
This was his rookie season in the NHL. Slafkovsky who isn't much taller but significantly heavier than Connor got 10 in 39gp... 0.256ppg
Their D+1 seasons were
not spent getting head trauma in the NHL and accomplishing little else. They weren't rushed as badly as Slafkovsky was rushed in his rookie season. My criticism all of last season was clearly aimed at the Habs who have badly rushed yet another high draft pick.
But since you're so certain I will eat crow, why don't you propose what
you think Slaf will get in his D+2/Sophomore season.
